International signings?
Everyone was talking about how July 2nd was the date where teams can start signing International kids. How come we haven't heard of any signings? Did the Rangers go after any high rated prospects? I know the A's got Inoa and the Padres signed a bunch of kids but that's about it.

rangers signed
IF Odubel Herrera – Venezuela age unknown. $160,000
according to messages on saberscouting.
also have interest in several Taiwan pitchers.
underwhelming
i just hope they take care of business with their draft picks, especially if they do not make any significant international signings.
I'm not informed of the situation in any way
But it seems likely that the Rangers put nearly all their eggs in the Inoa basket, and aren’t going to make much headway with other guys in this year’s market unless they can overwhelm a few people with comically large checks.
If we’re briging in limited talent from INTL waters, though, it probably bodes well for our chances at signing some of the above-slot guys we took in the draft.
why do you think any of what you just said in the first paragraph
I’m pretty sure the other international scouts were doing their homework and not just drooling over Inoa, especially since they were spurned by his people very early in the process

Nah, dude
They were standing there in a huddle with a pool of saliva at their collective feet. I saw it on youtube.
Vicente Escobar
Next to bottom line of BA signings article:
The Rangers signed Venezuelan lefthander Vicente Escobar, a cousin of Brewers shortstop Alcides Escobar, for $350,000.

Looks like the Mariners had some nice signings, ugh.
Escobar
Know anything about him?
so far it’s looking like the rangers aren’t coming out nearly as well as last year

No
But that’s at least a couple of guys with six figure bonuses that they’ve salvaged. I’m fine with adding lots of shortstops with athleticism and some offensive ability (if this kid is like his cousin) in Latin America.

Shortstops are nice
but lefthanded pitchers are better, which is what this guy seems to be.
