A-Rod and Cynthia split....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080703/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bba_yankees_rodriguez

Another example of open marriages not working.

This comes just a few months after the birth of their newborn.

This is what happens when both spouses cheat on each other.  Recently, Cynthia has been seen with Lenny Kravitz in Paris holding hands.

A-ROD DOES NOT HAVE A PRENUP, SUCKS TO BE HIM RIGHT NOW.

NEW YORK - Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez and his wife have split less than three months after the birth of the couple's second daughter, according to a report in the New York Daily News.

The story on the newspaper's Web site comes amid reports linking Rodriguez to Madonna. Rodriguez refused to address the topic on three occasions Tuesday, once saying "no" when asked if he had any comment.

I'm skeptical

Foxnew’s Entertainment section has a theory out that Madonna is doing this to drive up interest in her upcoming tour/Guy’s upcoming movie, not sure why A-Rod, Cynthia and Kravitz would play along but all are represented by the same manager.

And no, it isn’t above Madonna to pull this stunt, she quietly leaked “Music” before it’s release date then openly claimed it was stolen and released to the public.

Do you think

that your theory of madonna leaking music is something unorthodox? Most famous musicians coming out with an album leak their music to garner interest or attract attention, definitely not just madonna. Its for publicity. Many musicians say it was “out of their control,” but honestly, the public isn’t that stupid. Songs are put on airwaves and the internet to get people to download the songs or buy the albums.

by kevzta on Jul 3, 2008 1:18 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

And hence why I'm skeptical

because it’s involving a public person who has a long history of using stunts for publicity including advertising on her t-shirts, add all said parties being under the same agent and something doesn’t look right…that and of all the people A-Rod could cheat with, why Madonna? Now if Cynthia starts going through divorce papers then I’ll believe it’s more than a stunt. Until then, I can’t help but remain suspicious.

Madonna/Guy

Of course according to the Ad to the right (US weekly cover) Madonna and Guy Ritchie are “over”. I have to marvel at the accuracy of Google Ads in relating forum content subject to advertising subject. On a related note, maybe Guy Ritchie will go back to making good movies now that he has his balls back.

That would be hilarious if that moron doesn’t have a prenup. I’ve often wondered how a guy with that much at stake doesn’t protect himself.

Probably depends on where the suit is filed

the more liberal the state the more she will get.

by Agreen07 on Jul 3, 2008 3:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Hmm...

aren’t the most conservative states some of the ones that are most generous to spouses? I seem to remember that South Carolina will give a divorcing wife 50%, pretty much no questions asked, whereas divorce courts in more liberal states like California tend to consider the specific factors in the case (i.e., they both are fooling around, she doesn’t “need” $100 million…

I know nothing more than that reputation above that I’ve heard before…

Wrong

She’d get more in Texas than in New York, given the size of the estate.

Really?

Interesting…

by Agreen07 on Jul 3, 2008 4:50 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I guess I have heard

that it depends on the state a lot for these kind of situations as it can totally differ based on what state they are in.

So where should I get married if I plan on cheating on my wife with Madonna?

by Agreen07 on Jul 3, 2008 4:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

For very high net worth individuals...

Those that are at, say, $50 million or higher, Texas would be better, because the community estate is usually going to split 50/50 when you are dealing with an estate that big (although, unlike in California, the court has the power to divide the estate disproportionately).

The rules in New York provide for an “equitable division,” and it is my understanding that the “non-titled” spouse (the one who doesn’t hold the martial assets in their name” is entitled only to a reasonable share. With very high net-worth individuals, that is usually less than 50%, from what I undersatnd.

by Adam J. Morris on Jul 3, 2008 5:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Let me ask you

is what you said applicable to an individual that is getting divorced (no prenup) and has assets worth around $2-4 mil?

by Agreen07 on Jul 3, 2008 5:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

In Texas?

There are various factors that play into it, that I could go into at more length, but an estate of that size is one that many family courts in Texas would view as appropriate for dividing disproportionately, particularly if one party has greater earning capacity than the other.

by zywica on Jul 4, 2008 2:17 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

So if you don't complain

about the sidebar consisting of a few entertaining posts that do relate to baseball or this blog, that makes you a goof ball? I happen to think if anyone is a goof ball here, it is the people that go into these threads that they claim to not care about, yet they leave comments in them anyways!

Look, there is a reason why there are 100+ comments in this diary…if nobody really cared, nobody would comment at all. If they didn’t care, they would just skip right by the thread and disregard it. But people care and that is why they are leaving comments on this post. If the haters really wanted these comments to disappear they would stop posting in them! Yet this diary currently has 122 comments and 9 recs. There is a reason for that.

In summation, if the people who claim to hate these threads really hated them, they wouldn’t participate and instead they would choose not to comment in them. Each thread would instead have about 10-15 comments, from the individuals which you have entitled the “goof balls”, and the threads would be rendered meaningless and irrelevant. However that clearly isn’t the case. So if you don’t like these threads don’t post in them…we will see what happens.

What’s next? Are we all going to have our screennames taken away from us and assigned numbers?

Asked to speak in a monotone voice and given plastic pencil holders to stick in our white starched oxfords?

I don’t hear anyone complaining over all the youtube clips that get posted on here or all the other OT subjects. I don’t see how it inhibits anyone from posting anything baseball related. There is always a place to talk baseball if you want to. It really seems to boil down to hating Miles more than anything.

to have posts telling folks to stuff the ballot boxes, and the old polls on the best prospects up on the rec list. I know I often go back to revisit the 1st and 2nd prospect threads.

I have no idea why folks rec polls. Polls are nice when they are up, when they are done running, what good are they? Folks actually want to rec yesterday’s news?

I think the whole recommended post concept the way its implemented here is pretty ridiculous though.

Well

My guess is that folks recommend the prospect polls for 2 reasons:

1) To highlight them, so that people who aren’t as active don’t end up missing it, and
2) There is often some good discussion within the comments about the prospects in the running.
