Rangers have inquired about Grienke; also looking into Masset and Bonser
Hopefully, this hasn't been posted yet and sorry if it has but Jeff Wilson writes that
A major league source said the Rangers have inquired about Royals right-hander Zack Greinke, who is 8-7 with a 3.98 ERA and would command top prospects in return.
The Rangers have also asked about two other pitchers: the Twins’ Boof Bonser and the White Sox’s Nick Masset, a former Rangers prospect, according to a source. Trading Bonser would allow the Twins to call up Francisco Liriano.
Consider Hank Blalock off the block now that he has landed on the disabled list. The Rangers had to inform two teams about the injury, and a source said one of them was the Giants.
The Giants could become another team interested in catcher Gerald Laird, but only if they trade Bengie Molina to Florida.
Interesting names here with Masset and Bonser. But I read recently that Bonser was having a bad year. I wonder if their's any way we could get Baker instead from the Twins.
The Laird situation ahs been mentioned with the Giants, but it would be interesting to see what we could get from them.

As I said in another thread
I imagine Bonser and Masset were brought up as potential returns for Blalock. HOWEVER, I love me some Greinke. I could see JD swinging a deal for him involving Salty, Andrus, and another prospect.

Prefer
I would prefer us to go after Liriano over Greinke just because he’s a lefty. Imagine having C.C. and Liriano in the same rotation. Two ace left handers. I prefer us to keep Andrus since we need a SS in 18 months. Maybe Salty(Although Minnesota doesn’t need a catcher) , Borbon, Beltre package can get something going.

No I never have
To me it’s the same as when someone gets all excited about a guy cause he’s a switch hitter.
Ooh, he can hit either way, that makes him better!
No, it doesn’t.
All I care about is how good a hitter is at producing runs.
And all I care about with pitchers is how good he is at not allowing runs.
I don’t believe that a lefty has any significant advantages in our ballpark. I really don’t.
But please feel free to show me some statistical proof that I’m wrong. I love learning new shit.

You would think
Kansas City might have a little interest in John Mayberry, not only as a baseball move but a PR move because some of Sr’s best years came in KC.

Greinke
i think he could be a beast, but i don’t know if i fully trust him to give up what KC might be asking for him at this point…
Josh Hamilton is better than you.

and i guess that is fair from KC’s point of view

Yep, pass...
I don’t give up Davis, Feliz, or Andrus right now.
Grienke would be costly but I’d say maybe Salty, Main/Beavan, Beltre, and JMJ. Probably wouldn’t be enough but I wouldn’t offer much more than that.

Greinke
I don’t understand why KC would trade him, unless they could get back a Feliz/Andrus-type return.

cause they need help in a lot of areas
so they would actually consider a 3 for 1 deal if the 3 are of high quality.

Bonser
I don’t know that I could deal with having a pitcher named “Boof” on the team.
When I was in middle school, “boof” was the slang term me and my friends used to describe the act now popularly known as “buttsecks”- as in “you just got boofed.” Or as Cartman would say, “you just got f’d in the a.”

Boofed
We used that slang at my high school…
On topic: Bonser’s and Masset’s numbers are not that great. Bonser seems like a reasonable end-of-the-rotation starter, and Masset as a third or fourth option in the bullpen. I think we have enough of these types already.

Bonser Sucks
and the Twinks are looking to dump him.
Jul 30 Joe Christensen, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Twins may part ways with SP Boof Bonser in order to make room for a player that is acquired at the trade deadline. Bonser would likely be claimed if the Twins try to pass him through waivers, according to two National League scouts.

if that is true
i wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on him. can he stay healthy and pitch every fifth day? that alone would provide value around here. he always put up solid numbers in the minors. perhaps a move to the bullpen would help out in the short term.

glad i read the end of the thread
cause i was about to post the same thing.
Apparently there was talk of trying to get aurilla from san fran or some middle infied depth. Sounds like someone may actually want ramon. I wonder if he would be a type B free agent though. That is one guy based on his comments recently that you could offer arbitration to and have no worries whatsoever that he would accept.
I'm sorry my parents never had me sarcamsized.
