Pudge is a Yankee
A little bit of me just died inside.
The New York Yankees have found a replacement for Jorge Posada.
New York acquired catcher Ivan Rodriguez from the Tigers on Wednesday for right-handed pitcher Kyle Farnsworth.
Rodriguez, who is in the final year of his contract, waived his no-trade clause to join the Yankees, sources told ESPN.com.
"He's hitting over .290 I believe and he's been hot so we're looking forward to having him," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after New York's 13-3 rout of the Orioles on Wednesday.
Farnsworth played for the Tigers in 2005.
Posada, a five-time All-Star catcher, announced he would have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on Monday. He has struggled with shoulder pain for most of the season, limiting his ability to throw out baserunners and cutting down his playing time behind the plate.
On the disabled list for the second time this year, Posada was trying to rehabilitate his shoulder enough to come back as a designated hitter or first baseman this season. But after the Yankees acquired outfielder Xavier Nady in a trade with Pittsburgh on Saturday, they determined it was best for Posada to have surgery now, general manager Brian Cashman said Monday.
I'll have more details when I get them. They're talking about it on ESPNews right now.
This hurts a lot. Not just seeing Pudge in pinstripes, but knowing that's one lest team for us to be involved with in trade talks.

Looks like they just bought him
I think the return for the Tigers was just Kyle Farnsworth.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Did you ever think you’d see the day Kyle Farnsworth was traded straight up for a future Hall of Famer?

Future hall of Famer
currently a fairly mediocre catcher. Not bad, not particularly good, and not worth what he is getting paid.

Well, yeah.
I understand the reality of the trade. It was a joke.

well
It seems like a good trade for both teams. Both players are having nice years. Both are on the final years of their respective contracts. Tigers need relief pitching with Rodney struggling. Yankees needed catching.
The bad part for us is that no one expected Pudge to get traded. That’s one less suitor for Laird.
We can still trade one catcher to Cincinatti and wait til the offseason to trade another potential “catcher of the future” to another team.

This just sucks...
The thought of watching Pudge play in Yankee pinstripes makes me ill.
