Nellie wins case against Cuban
Don Nelson won his arbitration case against Mark Cuban.

From everything I was reading in the papers, this isn't a big surprise. It will be interesting to see how Cuban responds to this. You generally can't appeal arbitration decisions, so this should be paid and done, but we'll have to see.
Also be interesting to see if he chooses to blog about it.

Yeah, he'll blog it
He always approaches these issues head-on.

Good for Nellie
I know that he was not without blame by any stretch, but it’s hard to root against him in that dispute. I wish he were still the GM here and living in that W across from the arena.
Offense doesn't doubt me, but my first and primemost thing is defense and punt return and kickoff return

Cuban's an idiot
he should have just paid him and kept his mouth shut
he just comes off as a spoiled child 90% of the time now
less Cuban would be good for everyone except the talk radio shows
Less?
Has he been making outlandish comments lately?
I doubt he called up the DMN and told them to run a story on him losing an arbitration case.

Who are you, Warren Buffet?
Last week I took a pleasure trip. I drove my wife to the airport.

Oh, man
This has to make AJM so freaking happy.
His hatred of Mark Cuban knows no bounds.
The 40 Trumps All!!!
AJM's fantasy:
Cuban and Avery are riding along in a car driven by Laird. Cuban’s riding shotgun, and he’s got a gun, of course, which he whips out while talking to Avery. Car hits a bump and Avery’s head pull a “Marvin” all over the backseat. Laird freaks out and slams on the brakes, causing Cuban to fly through the windshield and land in a forest near Castle Grayskull where he is raped by a pack of snarfs.
Laird is rescued by the “Pass the Dutchie” kids, and, along with AJM, they all walk off towards the horizon singing the St. Elmo’s Fire song.
Of course, that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.

That is
One of the most brilliant yet most screwed up posts in all of my time here at LSB.
Oh, and just to ruin the vibe, Laird sucks.

relax bitch
settle on down. I keep telling that to my pitchers

how lovely
I’m sure Brett would bend over for that

Cuban
Speaking of cuban, check this out from bloomberg:
July 30 (Bloomberg) -- Billionaire Mark Cuban, who's trying to buy baseball's Chicago Cubs, received a recommendation from an unexpected source: National Basketball Association Commissioner David Stern.
"I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." - Mitch Hedberg

Question for the lawyers
If Nellie had a non-compete clause—how is taking a head coaching job with a competing team not in violation of that?
I'm undefeated in fights. Have I been in any? No. Thats because people know my f'ing status. Don't mess with the elite. - Miles
Do the Mavs have any recourse against the Warriors?
“I got exactly what I wanted out of the deal—the true facts of the situation,” Cuban said via e-mail. “I feel a lot better knowing that under oath [Nelson] said that [during Dallas’ NBA] Finals games [in 2006] that he was meeting with [Golden State’s] GM and helping the Warriors work on their draft plans. [And] that he and his lawyers had started discussions more than a month before he took the job, not days as he said publicly.”

More on the situation
The ruling explicitly states that the deferred compensation that Nelson was suing about (approximately $6 million) had been fully earned and has nothing to do with the consulting agreement/non-compete that Cuban was suing over.
And yet, we have this quote from Cuban:
“Unfortunately, according to the arbitrator, because I held back about $25,000 in payments as I tried to understand the situation, I breached our consulting agreement, so I am obligated to pay him the deferred money he was to be paid,” Cuban said. “Basically, I pay him the exact same amount I would have had this not happened.”
Except that’s not what the ruling states. The ruling doesn’t state that Cuban has to pay Nelson the deferred compensation because he didn’t pay him the $25K.
