When the hell is Chris Davis going to hit 5th?
I’m getting tired of Murphy, aka “the left-handed black hole” batting there.
And why the hell is Crapalanotto DHing instead of MAX?

how could you sit Cat after the game he had Wednesday?...
...that fool was contributing like no other…
by oc on Jul 4, 2008 2:26 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Maybe as a reward
for his last game which was his first start in like a week. Maybe its try and showcase him a bit for a trade by showing he can hit good righty starters.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Yep
Particularly when Max hasn’t been hitting.
by Adam J. Morris on Jul 4, 2008 2:27 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Bah
He has no value aside from that of a bench peice to an NL club. Max needs more playing time, or he shouldn’t be on this roster.

Davis and Max
You don’t DH you backup catcher. Davis and Murphy should be swapped in the lineup. At least Byrd is not starting vs a RHP.

by RangerMad on Jul 4, 2008 2:37 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes you do DH your back-up catcher....
its just most teams don’t because their backup is too terrible of a hitter to DH.
Its worth the risk of taking the 1 in 50 chance that your catcher gets hurt and your pitcher has to make a couple of plater app.
Washington makes WAY to big a deal of this.
by clinton33 on Jul 4, 2008 3:22 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Doug Mathis...
...what’s his deal?... is he set to come off the DL sometime soon?
this bullpen could use another long-arm… in my estimation.

if i recall correctly, i think this is the guy AJM wanted to draft that year?
by Longhorn on Jul 4, 2008 4:00 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Nah
I thought Guthrie was too old (he’d spent 2 years on a mission, so he was 23 when he was drafted) and didn’t have a high enough ceiling.
I wanted Bobby Brownlie, who the Cubs drafted, and who was derailed with shoulder problems.

It’d be a toss up for me. Baltimore/DC Metro Area might be slightly better than the Dallas/Ft. Worth/Arlington metro area. It’s close though, considering I lived in the suburbs of Dallas for five years and in Maryland for another ten.

I mean I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore
moved away for a few years and then came back and now live in what is considered the DC metro area. I love Baltimore and follow their sports teams with a passion, but DC is flat out a superior city, I’m not gonna be ignorant and try to pass it off as if Baltimore is better. It is the best of both worlds living in between the two though.

Owwww
Good point. I like Murhy too, but unfortunately he’s hitting .192 over his last 22 games, so this isn’t exactly something new. Rudy needs to spend some serious time with him and Salty both.

I hated to do that to you, Jon
But, I felt the need to defend Murph a bit.
I agree he needs to make some adjustments. The ASB could be a good time for some extra time with Rudy.

Hey, don't worry about it
Nobody is more aware of how bad Salty has been than me. I’m just getting a little frustrated with the fact that Murphy is still batting 5th when he’s been struggling this badly for this long. You’re right, hopefully Murphy and Salty can both come back after the ASB fresh and ready to tear up the league.

murphy ops
april – .807
may – .753
june – .700
july – .200
by kumizi on Jul 4, 2008 6:03 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I agree he needs to make adjustments
But benching him won’t help that happen.

+ 1 give the Murph a chance..
he’s just a rookie. Everyone goes through slumps, including Michael Young.
the .200 July OPS consists of one game.. a little misleading..
in July he didnt play the last game against the Yankees, there was an off day, he has played one game..not including todays

Why Rupe?
RW should have brought in Benoit with the Rangers down 4 runs in the 8th.

Well
It is the 4th of July… and we’re getting blown out again… I’m actually wondering why I’ve sat through this, because when I joined in we where already down 8-1. That doesn’t really say much for my 4th of July plans, does it?

Not really...
Hope you find something better to do.
I’m off to work. And by work, I mean take a few photos of a pretty decent band and then just enjoy the rest of their set and some fireworks.

Sweet assignment
Hope you have fun.
I went and bought myself some fireworks to shoot off with the rest of the apartment building tonight, so I do at least plan to have some fun when the sun goes down. :)
Happy 4th of July, everybody.
