Is that bird dead or passed out drunk?
It’s hard to tell :)

When the hell is Chris Davis going to hit 5th?
I’m getting tired of Murphy, aka “the left-handed black hole” batting there.
And why the hell is Crapalanotto DHing instead of MAX?

how could you sit Cat after the game he had Wednesday?...
...that fool was contributing like no other…
by oc on Jul 4, 2008 2:26 PM CDT up reply actions
Maybe as a reward
for his last game which was his first start in like a week. Maybe its try and showcase him a bit for a trade by showing he can hit good righty starters.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Yep
Particularly when Max hasn’t been hitting.
by Adam J. Morris on Jul 4, 2008 2:27 PM CDT up reply actions
Davis and Max
You don’t DH you backup catcher. Davis and Murphy should be swapped in the lineup. At least Byrd is not starting vs a RHP.
Brandon Boggs 2008 Texas Rangers ROY
Yes you do DH your back-up catcher....
its just most teams don’t because their backup is too terrible of a hitter to DH.
Its worth the risk of taking the 1 in 50 chance that your catcher gets hurt and your pitcher has to make a couple of plater app.
Washington makes WAY to big a deal of this.
Doug Mathis...
...what’s his deal?... is he set to come off the DL sometime soon?
this bullpen could use another long-arm… in my estimation.
Question.
Better leadoff hitter: Grady Sizemore or Kinsler?
Kinsler
Less HR power, but his doubles make up for that. He hits better for contact and he is the most efficient base stealer in the league right now.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Ha ha
Don’t they know baseball is as American as it gets? :)
I’m actually working today (newspaper stuff). I’m squeezing the Rangers game in between photographing events.

Ok Ian off to the races now

That was suprising FOTF GIDP
Who would have thought.
"Would you mind walking a time or two so I could drive in some runs"? Milton Bradley
Hamilton
now has walked in 7 straight games with a total of 8 in that span. It looks like Hamilton is finally starting to just stop swinging at bad pitches and being fine taking the walk.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
I was thinking about that the other day
Nice to see him taking more walks, because it means he’s not hacking away up there

which also makes it worth noting
that he only has 2 Ks in this 7 game walk streak

Nah
I thought Guthrie was too old (he’d spent 2 years on a mission, so he was 23 when he was drafted) and didn’t have a high enough ceiling.
I wanted Bobby Brownlie, who the Cubs drafted, and who was derailed with shoulder problems.

Guthrie
is throwing really hard. Me no likey.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
I had no idea Guthrie operated in the mid 90's
Especially not hitting 97. I thought he was a 91-93 guy.
How does he not strike more guys out?
He was only talking about this year...
historically he might be pushing 50-100 wins.
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
I suggest throwing curveballs
Everything else looks like BP… No strikeout pitch unless he can control that curveball…
geez

Why is it that the Orioles of all teams...
seem to be producing the most roving trolls of any team we’ve faced since 2.0 came about. Even worse than Seattle.

LOL Baltimore Baseball, Yeah Right
Stick to loosing Baltimore, 10 years in a row i believe at last count
hahaha
a rangers fan making fun of baltimore’s losing streak?
dude …. YOU HAVE NEVER WON ANYTHING. NOTHING!!!
Yes, I should say that, which, I should say that.
Eh
It’d be a toss up for me. Baltimore/DC Metro Area might be slightly better than the Dallas/Ft. Worth/Arlington metro area. It’s close though, considering I lived in the suburbs of Dallas for five years and in Maryland for another ten.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver
I spent 3 years.....
in Baltimore proper. Fed hill just a block from the back side of the park.
A true Baltimorian would never point to DC for anything.
I mean I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore
moved away for a few years and then came back and now live in what is considered the DC metro area. I love Baltimore and follow their sports teams with a passion, but DC is flat out a superior city, I’m not gonna be ignorant and try to pass it off as if Baltimore is better. It is the best of both worlds living in between the two though.

are you JOKING?
DC sucks. Flat our SUCKS. It’s not a city, it’s a sprawling enclave of transitory politicians.
Orioles have won nothing in my lifetime either
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
If Baltimore wins..
.. both teams will have the exact same record.
Good god
Padilla really sucks ass today. Glad I wasn’t here for the first few innings.

Mostly a lot of hard hit balls
Mix in a lack of control/command and less than stellar defense behind him.
Just turned on the game
WTF?
Was Padz really as bad as his line??

more like a bruised ego after
That thumping he took.

I think it's more to do with the league adjusting to him
and Josh not making adjustments to the league.
They caught up and figured him out. Until he makes some adjustments, the Beast will continue to be on hold…

Murph needs to regain his
MURPHINATOR status right here.

I believe he has a higher BA than your favorite player.

Owwww
Good point. I like Murhy too, but unfortunately he’s hitting .192 over his last 22 games, so this isn’t exactly something new. Rudy needs to spend some serious time with him and Salty both.

by LSJ on Jul 4, 2008 6:01 PM CDT up reply actions
I hated to do that to you, Jon
But, I felt the need to defend Murph a bit.
I agree he needs to make some adjustments. The ASB could be a good time for some extra time with Rudy.
by The Best Micah on Jul 4, 2008 6:03 PM CDT up reply actions
Hey, don't worry about it
Nobody is more aware of how bad Salty has been than me. I’m just getting a little frustrated with the fact that Murphy is still batting 5th when he’s been struggling this badly for this long. You’re right, hopefully Murphy and Salty can both come back after the ASB fresh and ready to tear up the league.

murphy ops
april – .807
may – .753
june – .700
july – .200
Yeah, I agree he needs to make adjustments
But benching him won’t help that happen.
by The Best Micah on Jul 4, 2008 6:04 PM CDT up reply actions
+ 1 give the Murph a chance..
he’s just a rookie. Everyone goes through slumps, including Michael Young.
the .200 July OPS consists of one game.. a little misleading..
in July he didnt play the last game against the Yankees, there was an off day, he has played one game..not including todays

I hope so...
otherwise their good work is crap
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
Why Rupe?
RW should have brought in Benoit with the Rangers down 4 runs in the 8th.
"Publicly, Beavan has said in an interview that his velocity has dropped because he's not used to throwing as much and because of all the travel -- late night bus rides, sleeping in hotels, not the best nutrition, etc."
Well
It is the 4th of July… and we’re getting blown out again… I’m actually wondering why I’ve sat through this, because when I joined in we where already down 8-1. That doesn’t really say much for my 4th of July plans, does it?

Not really...
Hope you find something better to do.
I’m off to work. And by work, I mean take a few photos of a pretty decent band and then just enjoy the rest of their set and some fireworks.

I went and bought myself some fireworks to shoot off with the rest of the apartment building tonight, so I do at least plan to have some fun when the sun goes down. :)
