Benoit to the d.l., Nippert up, Main to Clinton
Evan Grant reports that Joaquin Benoit is headed to the disabled list with shoulder inflammation, and the Rangers have purchased the contract of Dustin Nippert. Nippert was outrighted earlier this year, so if and when the Rangers drop him from the 25 man roster, he'll have the right to become a free agent.
Also, per Grant, Michael Main is now a Lumberking, moving to Clinton to take Neftali Feliz's place in the rotation.

good...
Benoit has been worthless all year. He should have been sent to the DL a long time ago. At least Nippert should be able to give us some long relief innings when necessary to help ease the burden on the pen.
Nippert
I assume he may be the leading candidate to start on Wednesday if Padilla is out.
I guess the other option is to put Padilla on the DL and give Matt Harrison the start.
And it gets worse
Bummer…
Eric Hurley (hamstring) and Vicente Padilla (neck) are very questionable for the Tuesday-Wednesday starts against the Angels.

Geez.....
Are we looking at Mendoza, Harrison and Nippert for the Angels series?
Now what was that about there being a spot in the rotation for McCarthy?

Ok Walter
I’m very happy with the way the season is going but did you really think the Rangers ever had a chance at the playoffs this year?

yes
but I’m the eternal optimist. apparently not so much, with that previous comment…or I was just having a bad afternoon

I said something
a few days ago that something was definitely wrong physically with Benoit. It was obvious when he lost the strike zone that something wasn’t quite right. Hope it’s a short run and he gets the rest he needs.
