WTF?!?!?!
This is an outrage!!!!!!!
"I'm thinking of starting Quite Frankly in my garage, would you be my first guest?"

Actually
I find these much less outrageous than many years. At least Pedroia is having a good season and is an exciting young player, even if he might only be having the 2nd or 3rd best year so far for a 2B. Jeter shouldn’t be on there, of course, he’s having a meh year.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

Varitek as a reserve?????

Varitek
has heart. That’s all that matters.
I’m also going to buy a ASG George Sherrill Jersey.

Hahaha.
I love sarcasm. It makes life worth living.
Of course, so does seeing George Sherrill in the ASG.
Ian Kinsler has finally earned the right to be the third of my co-favorite players.

As a Young fan, I have to say ...
it’s pretty sad that his mediocre season is the best by a SS in the AL this season.
by Athos on Jul 6, 2008 2:03 PM CDT 0 recs
He's on pace for...
something close to:
.290, 100 R, 14 HR, 90 RBI
What about that is not an All-Star line for a SS?

If you look at the last few years, his numbers are low.
The two SS on this year’s AL club are Young (OPS+ 105) and Jeter (97).
Last season is was Jeter (121), Guillen (123), and Young, who got the mandatory Ranger spot (107). In 2006, it was Jeter (132), Tejeda (126) and Young (108) (Guillen was better than all of them at 136). In 2005, it was Tejeda (128) and Young (131). So, Young being the AL’s best SS with his 105 OPS+ is pretty sad when you compare it to the all stars of the last few years. That’s all I’m saying.

because the runs and rbi have a lot to do with the lineup
and his actual hitting has been merely pretty solid while his defense is still bad.
although i will say he hasnt really stuck out as bad defensively lately, not a lot of plays where i wonder how he didnt get to that.
2 games over 500 please.

his fielding sucks
ill take those numbers and be happy with them but not from a guy who Roger Dorn’s every ball hit up the middle.
if you can find a picture of mike young all out belly diving for a baseball in the last 3 seasons ill buy you a milkshake.

Soriano starting for the NL
has to be one of the biggest jokes out of this entire process.
and Fukudome for that matter.

That's why I don't ever vote
It’s a pointless exercise that contributes to a pointless game. Who gives a fuck?

I mostly care to get my team's players in there, that deserve it...
The Pedrioa situation is a tad bit frustrating.
I’m not pissed off at the NL result… not our problem that the NL will be starting some less than all-star players!
As far as it being a pointless game, I’d say that home field advantage in the WS sure could make a difference. Of course, they really need to restructure the travel system in the WS.
I’ve had this conversation with my roommate a number of times, if the schedule for the team with HF Advantage goes:
Home, Home, Away, Away, Away, Home, Home
If they lose one of the first two home games, their advantage is taken away completely. It should definitely be more like:
Home, Away, Home, Home, Away, Away, Home

that schedule
will never happen b/c of the cost of travel

I doubt cost is an issue
I would have more problem with the extra days it would likely take if they have days off for travel.

I have heard many times
that the reason the NBA does the Home,Home,Away,Away,Away, Home, Home is because of travel costs for the teams and the media and all that. I would assume it’s the same for the MLB.

This time it counts
I totally forgot about that. Cuz I am sure the sole rep from the Royals really gives a rats ass if the Red Sox have home field advantage. The fact that they give home field to the winner makes it more of a joke in my opinion.

something really interesting about all of this
is that there are a number of really good teams this year with very few legitimate all-stars. Goes to show that you don’t need 4-7 all-stars to win, we all knew that already for the most part, but whatever.

The biggest snub of all, in my opinion.............
Here is the line for the most effective reliever in MLB thus far this season:
31 games, 27.2 innings pitched, 13 hits (13!), 8 BB, 37 K, 2 earned runs allowed, 7 saves, WHIP of 0.76, batting avg against of .134
His is Brandon Morrow of the Seattle Mariners.
And he’s a friggin’ monster thus far this season.
by Hard8 on Jul 6, 2008 11:28 PM CDT 0 recs
Did Ramon Vasquez homer off him?
I would call that RamOWNED.

yep.............
Vazquez did hit a HR off of him. That was on May 12th. And Morrow hasn’t allowed an earned run since.
