love me some murph...
that’s a relatively quiet 11 HR, 55 RBI…damn, imagine if he hadn’t slumped for the past month
It's on WGN HD
if anyone is interested in flipping over between innings

There is a guy
who more than just was a defensible pick for the AS game.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Yeah, but...
There are two guys in that lineup who are hitting above .248…
Wes Bankston (6 for 18) and Something Petit (6 for 19).

OT: Volquez update
Since we are getting Danks updates, Volquez has given up 3 runs on 3 BBs and 5 hits through 6 IP. He’s only at 89 pitches so he’ll likely go one more. His ERA on the season is now 2.36

Feisty Old Man Syndrome Today

I love David Murphy.
He is such a good baseball player.

McCarthy was major league ready
Danks was not, supposedly. I understand the reason for doing it… I don’t like it either but we have to live with it and not dwell on it.
exactly "supposedly" who got that wrong?
and I dont think you will find anyone dwelling on it here. but its definately something that the people responsible should be held accountable for!
by blueballlefty on Jul 6, 2008 2:37 PM CDT up reply actions
You dwelled on it not me
I was just giving updates on a former Ranger pitching a no-hitter, then you brought up the fact that the trade sucked.
You wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't Danks
What’s the point of doing that if their game is in the 5th inning?
I've bashed the front office plenty...
and when I do it, I’m pretty straight-forward about it. McCarthy has been hurt so that makes it somewhat problematic to judge the trade, however I don’t think he would be doing as well as Danks is currently doing, and Danks is younger.
The better John Danks does
Means the better job our coaches did with him in the minors.

I guess it's tough
when you are told for three years that DVD is the answer and then they are traded and do well anyways.
That's more just because the Rangers are a bit unique...
most teams don’t have a Jamey Newberg that covers the minors so in depth and most other teams’ fans couldn’t name more than 3-5 prospects in their entire farm system

It's time to trade Millwood.
His numbers this year are almost the same as his numbers last season. He allows WAY too many baserunners and has progressively declined while he’s been here. I’d almost rather watch anybody on the mound than him at this point.
I don't think there is going to be an opportunity to sell high.

From Newberg Report
The significant thing about the player vote with regard to Kinsler, Young,
and Bradley is that they actually received more votes from their peers than
the players who will start received. Kinsler earned 389 player votes,
Dustin Pedroia 215; Young 470, Derek Jeter 463; Bradley 481, nobody else
listed.
And from EG:
Great news!
According to the players’ ballots, the Rangers should have four starting All-Stars.All four of the Rangers players who were named to the team led the voting among their peers at their respective positions. Ian Kinsler, for example, outpointed starter Dustin Pedroia, 389-215 at second base. Michael Young won a close race at shortstop, beating starter Derek Jeter, 470-463. The other spots were absolute jokes. Josh Hamilton led the outfielders with 657 votes; Manny Ramirez (358) was the only guy within 300 points of him. And Milton Bradley had 481 votes for the DH spot. MLB didn’t even bother to list a second-place finisher to him – if there was one.
Guaranteed, this is what is going to make the Rangers’ proudest: Their peers thought they should be playing.

Holy f'n s.
That game point between Nadal and Federed just now was absolutely nuts.

This is just unbelievable.
It’s amazing that there is a clear two-player battle for No. 1 and No. 2 in the world, and then literally everyone else.
These guys are just in a different league.
Break point for Rafa. This is his chance.

Bradley has tendonitis
Per EG…this is good news, as a whole.
Make the All-Star Game one minute; leave the game with a sore knee the next. Here’s what is significant: It is not his surgically repaired knee and the Rangers claim they are simply being extremely cautious.

All signs are pointing to Milwaukee getting CC in the next few days.
It looks like the Dodgers have pulled out, TB is going to get a BP arm instead and maybe a bat, and the Cubs dont have the horses.
Milwaukee wants an answer in the next 24-48 hours because they want all the starts they can out of CC. CC next start is supposed to be tomorrow, so..if the Brewers are planning replacing Bush who starts Thurs with CC, look for CC’s start tomorrow to get pushed back…
Yup...
