This is going to be on tough series

I would say we take 3 out of 4 but against this pitching i think the mostly likely situation is a split.

The funny thing about my back is that its located on my cock.

Am I the only one

that is incredibly anxious and incredibly nervous about this series?

Nope.

This is pretty much one of the biggest series in quite a while for the Rangers.

It is crazy how much rides on this series

I’m a little annoyed that we haven’t played them since mid-April, and the result of that is the entire season pretty much rides on this series.

look at it this way...

...these aren’t your April Rangers…

...no Ben Broussards here… no Hank Blalocks… no Jason Botts…

the mental mistakes aren’t happening anymore… there hasn’t been very many boneheaded plays since that Byrd-missing-the-sign-to-come-home since the last time we played them.

the Angels?... they no-hit the Dodgers, and still lost.

they couldn’t get a run off of the ‘Ho in 6 innings…

Rangers have nothing to lose anyway… this is their series.

Lineup

2B Ian Kinsler
SS Michael Young
RF Josh Hamilton
DH Milton Bradley
LF David Murphy
CF Marlon Byrd
1B Chris Davis
C Max Ramirez
3B Ramon Vazquez

by coolaid on Jul 7, 2008 6:06 PM CDT   0 recs

Why is Byrd on the team?

By all accounts, Boggs can play CF quite adequately. Let’s find out a little more about him—such as whether he will ever be able to handle RHP in the future. Byrd is not part of this future, at all.

I love

Seeing Max Ramirez and Chris Davis in the same lineup. Wouldn’t mind seeing Milty in left and Salty at DH.

What is your fan allegiance?

I saw you post this on the Red Sox site:

We need another right handed hitter like we need a hole in the head. Gimme a hefty lefty to stick offset Pedroia/Manny/Lowell/Youk.

May I ask why you chose Texas?

Astros are 3 hours away, DFW metroplex is 4 +, if you’re going for proximity …

Biggest series?

Quit being so dramatic people.

LOOK. AT. OUR. PITCHING.

If you just wanna beat the angels thats fine, but do not for one second bring up that this could be a step in competing for the divison.

by SaltyGoesYard on Jul 7, 2008 6:16 PM CDT   0 recs

there will more than likely be a couple months where there isnt even the slightest hope

might as well try to be into it while it lasts.

2 games over 500 please.

by DSheppard on Jul 7, 2008 6:18 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

You want to know why

people are acting like this is one of the biggest series in a long time? Because it is one of the biggest series in a long time. Win or lose, suck or succeed the rest of the season, the Rangers have a chance to gain ground if they can get 3. Sure, it’s unlikely, but does that mean we should say…. bah, screw it? I sure as hell hope not.

by SaltyGoesYard on Jul 7, 2008 6:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

ugh...

that doesn’t take away from the fact that this series can result in us being anywhere from 3.5 back to 11.5 back. This is an important series if for nothing else, we can’t afford to get swept.

hoping for the AA future stars to get here sometime down the road? Well screw it all then! Why didn’t you say so! Whew… thanks for the advice…. now I can stop giving a shit because I know now from you that this season is in the shitter and our MLB team, who is 12 games over .500 since going 9-18, isn’t worth dick.

Should we at least wait until after this series to see where we’re at? You’re right!!! Hell no! Let’s surrender now!!! That’s the spirit!!!

Ass.

I just said quit thinking we are going to compete for the divison, thats all.

its not you who will be disappointed when they dont make it

its fun to route for the team to try to make it, no matter how unlikely.

you can be realistic/negative about it, but why are you trying to push it on others?

unless they start suggesting we trade prospects for rentals to try to help us win now.

Sure its fine to be pumped

If you just wanna beat a divison rival, and because you hate the angels.

But they were just acting like it was game 1 of the world series, or a 1 game playoff to make the playoffs.

by SaltyGoesYard on Jul 7, 2008 6:33 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Good lord

nobody on here is acting like that. It is an important series in this season, a series where the Rangers control their fate to some degree. That kind of action doesn’t happen every day.

This = Ranger post.

People here care…. alot…. about the Rangers winning. This series gives the cockeyed optimists hope that the rest of the season might be worth watching. Sorry, I guess some folks care more than you. That doesn’t mean you should judge them like you are.

Care and realistic

These two things can be done together.

I care just as much as anybody else if not more. EVERY game is worth watching, and I watch them all.

You just got whats worth it wrong, its not competing for the division, its watching our young players continue to develop.

I hate to say this but...

sweeping the Angels might not be the best thing for the Rangers. This team isn’t built to compete this season and I fear what the front office might do at the deadline if we keep it close.

I’d much rather sell and acquire more arms so that we can make a realistic run in ‘09.

t ball this morning...

Duran, rookies; Angels series

Is it me or is he looking a bit better lately? Good to see Max and Davis drawing walks yesterday as well.

In some ways sweeping the Angels would be bad. The last thing I want is for Hicks and/or Daniels to get the idea of tilting at the windmill of contention this year. This team has a lot of young wild cards and injury issues in addition to a hugely questionable pitching staff. Even adding an ace to the rotation might not make them a contender, and the cost might be more than we could bear down the road.

Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

I agree.

But I want to believe the FO has the resolve to not try and pursue the playoffs if we’re in contention at the All-Star break (at the expense of the farm).

I would love being in a pennant race with what we’ve got, and I want to believe doing that won’t get managements heads too far up in the clouds.

by philkid3 on Jul 7, 2008 6:34 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Who do you propose to go after at the deadline

that could help this team in ‘09? A mlb level pitcher? Who would you part with? How about AAA/mlb ready pitching? Those guys are top fucking notch prospects and you’d better be ready to bend over and take it to get them. A/AA pitching? Those guys are typically not ready to jump up to MLB in the same year, unless they are a beasticon. If so, they’ll cost a shitload of MLB talent. If not, how the hell will they help in ‘09?

It’s easy to say let’s look to next year, but it’s not so easy to get the help for the right cost that can contribute in ‘09 without giving up a key piece in return.
