This is going to be on tough series
I would say we take 3 out of 4 but against this pitching i think the mostly likely situation is a split.
The funny thing about my back is that its located on my cock.
Am I the only one
that is incredibly anxious and incredibly nervous about this series?

Nope.
This is pretty much one of the biggest series in quite a while for the Rangers.

It is crazy how much rides on this series
I’m a little annoyed that we haven’t played them since mid-April, and the result of that is the entire season pretty much rides on this series.
"that suzuki guy should go back to making cars" - My girlfriend after C.J.'s close in game 2
look at it this way...
...these aren’t your April Rangers…
...no Ben Broussards here… no Hank Blalocks… no Jason Botts…
the mental mistakes aren’t happening anymore… there hasn’t been very many boneheaded plays since that Byrd-missing-the-sign-to-come-home since the last time we played them.
the Angels?... they no-hit the Dodgers, and still lost.
they couldn’t get a run off of the ‘Ho in 6 innings…
Rangers have nothing to lose anyway… this is their series.

Lineup
2B Ian Kinsler
SS Michael Young
RF Josh Hamilton
DH Milton Bradley
LF David Murphy
CF Marlon Byrd
1B Chris Davis
C Max Ramirez
3B Ramon Vazquez
Why is Byrd on the team?
By all accounts, Boggs can play CF quite adequately. Let’s find out a little more about him—such as whether he will ever be able to handle RHP in the future. Byrd is not part of this future, at all.

I love
Seeing Max Ramirez and Chris Davis in the same lineup. Wouldn’t mind seeing Milty in left and Salty at DH.
What is your fan allegiance?
I saw you post this on the Red Sox site:
We need another right handed hitter like we need a hole in the head. Gimme a hefty lefty to stick offset Pedroia/Manny/Lowell/Youk.

I moved to San Antonio from Connecticut. I root for both teams. If they play each other, I root for a good game.
May I ask why you chose Texas?
Astros are 3 hours away, DFW metroplex is 4 +, if you’re going for proximity …

Biggest series?
Quit being so dramatic people.
LOOK. AT. OUR. PITCHING.
If you just wanna beat the angels thats fine, but do not for one second bring up that this could be a step in competing for the divison.
there will more than likely be a couple months where there isnt even the slightest hope
might as well try to be into it while it lasts.
2 games over 500 please.
You want to know why
people are acting like this is one of the biggest series in a long time? Because it is one of the biggest series in a long time. Win or lose, suck or succeed the rest of the season, the Rangers have a chance to gain ground if they can get 3. Sure, it’s unlikely, but does that mean we should say…. bah, screw it? I sure as hell hope not.

that doesn’t take away from the fact that this series can result in us being anywhere from 3.5 back to 11.5 back. This is an important series if for nothing else, we can’t afford to get swept.

its not you who will be disappointed when they dont make it
its fun to route for the team to try to make it, no matter how unlikely.
you can be realistic/negative about it, but why are you trying to push it on others?
unless they start suggesting we trade prospects for rentals to try to help us win now.
2 games over 500 please.
Sure its fine to be pumped
If you just wanna beat a divison rival, and because you hate the angels.
But they were just acting like it was game 1 of the world series, or a 1 game playoff to make the playoffs.

I hate to say this but...
sweeping the Angels might not be the best thing for the Rangers. This team isn’t built to compete this season and I fear what the front office might do at the deadline if we keep it close.
I’d much rather sell and acquire more arms so that we can make a realistic run in ‘09.
Thankyou

t ball this morning...
Duran, rookies; Angels series
Is it me or is he looking a bit better lately? Good to see Max and Davis drawing walks yesterday as well.
In some ways sweeping the Angels would be bad. The last thing I want is for Hicks and/or Daniels to get the idea of tilting at the windmill of contention this year. This team has a lot of young wild cards and injury issues in addition to a hugely questionable pitching staff. Even adding an ace to the rotation might not make them a contender, and the cost might be more than we could bear down the road.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

I agree.
But I want to believe the FO has the resolve to not try and pursue the playoffs if we’re in contention at the All-Star break (at the expense of the farm).
I would love being in a pennant race with what we’ve got, and I want to believe doing that won’t get managements heads too far up in the clouds.
Who do you propose to go after at the deadline
that could help this team in ‘09? A mlb level pitcher? Who would you part with? How about AAA/mlb ready pitching? Those guys are top fucking notch prospects and you’d better be ready to bend over and take it to get them. A/AA pitching? Those guys are typically not ready to jump up to MLB in the same year, unless they are a beasticon. If so, they’ll cost a shitload of MLB talent. If not, how the hell will they help in ‘09?
It’s easy to say let’s look to next year, but it’s not so easy to get the help for the right cost that can contribute in ‘09 without giving up a key piece in return.

OT, but not worth a diary or shout.
I just noticed today, as I was brousing the relative arguments for the various “Final Ballot” stars, that Evan Longoria-Parker has a 0.1 WARP lead over Ian Kinsler (who I thought was leading the AL). And I consider Ian the first-half AL MVP.
I’m not about to use that to call Longoria better than Kinsler, but I will use that to say just HOW good Evan Longoria has been as a rookie is getting largely overlooked. I think everyone considers him the ROY to this point (with an argument from a few pitchers maybe), but I don’t think anyone is talking about him being an MVP level player.
well, lets wrap this win
in a bow for the Angels. We’ll be lucky if they dont sweep, right?? Ya’ll suck

Ahhh the Angels
The team in the division I truly fucking despise.
Joe Morgan: (On Jay Bruce) I think he will. He brings energy to the team, and besides that, he is a pretty good hitter.
Ken Tremendous: I like that the #1 reason he will help his team is: "energy," and the distant #2 reason is: "ability to hit baseballs."

Jamie Burke (Seattle’s 3rd catcher) pitched a scoreless inning in their 15-inning game last night. Can you see Max going out there and tossing an inning? If not, which of our players do you think we’d send out there in a similar situation?
Duran maybe.

He didn’t do well in his last start though the defense didn’t help. In this one, Mendoza got his stuff pushed in. There are no 40 man issues and as long as there are no injuries, a solid debut from Harrison should do the trick.

Every season the team is terrible at the begining of the season, then when we are a good 7-12 games out we all of a sudden play good baseball.
Then if we happen to be within striking distance come late june….BAM! We go stinkest again.
This organization is sad.

But a MANAGER needs to know when to get a guy out of the game. The Angels weren’t getting lucky, there weren’t a crapload of errors behind the pitcher… Mendoza couldn’t get ANYTHING down. You have Nippert who can go 6 innings, so you can still have a decent bullpen for tomorrow…

The flamethrower has landed. Check out the pitch-by-pitch of the first inning.
Feliz 1st:
Sutton: FB 92 B; FB 93 C; FB 96 S; FB 97 B; FB 98 F; SL 84 B; FB 97 x (f/o LF)
Greenberg: FB 95 x (p/o 3b)
Pettit: FB 96 B; SL 87 B FB 97 C; FB 97 S; FB 98 F; SL 83 x (hanging; single to short LF)
Stavisky: FB 97 B; FB 96 B; FB 96 C; FB 97 S; FB 97 S
He sees three left-handed hitters. First slider thrown to Sutton (LH) just missed the outside corner. The slider Pettit (RH) hit to short left was hard to distinguish from a changeup since it did nothing at all and was left way up and away. Stavisky - a Jason Botts type - couldn’t get around on the 97 mph cheese on the hands. And he never will.
UPDATE: He hit 99 twice and 100 once in the 2nd.
