Minors 7/7/08

RedHawks- Tommy Hunter on the bump today. Hopefully his second outing is better.

RoughRiders- Some dude name Neftali Feliz is making his first start in Double A. I wonder if hes good. And I wish this team had more speed

Blaze- Reed is the probable pitcher

Lumberkings- Tatusko on the mound. Blah....wish main was starting instead

Indians- My second favorite pitcher Ramirez is pitching tonight. Hopfully a couple more qualtiy starts gets him bumped up

AZL rooks-  Our 4th round pick this year Joeseph Wieland is getting his second career start tonight.

Should be a great night for rangers pitching prospect.

Hunter through 7...

4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HR only 76 pitches.

Pretty damn good. And just turned 22. It would be nice to see a pitcher fly through the minors and have a impact with the Rangers.

Man, great start for him tonight. CG and only six baserunners. 9.4 P/IP too.

Not

a CG, since it went to extra innings. But still that doesn’t take anything away from his start.

Yep...

could he get a couple starts in Sept.? Or at least a call up to the ‘pen? Do you know if they are going to try and put him on any kind of innings limitation this year?

40 man crunch

Unless somethings happen between now and the end of the year we will be in a bit of a crunch with the 40 man roster. No need magnifying that by adding a guy who won’t need to be added for another 2 years. Now maybe next spring depending on how things work out he may be worthy of a shot but not this year.

Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Yeah...

forgot about that. It doesn’t make much sense to add him onto the 40 for a month at the end of the year.

Also...

Cruz not in the lineup? Just a day off?

I would really like to see him get the call up and get another shot at it.

I'm not sure

Hopefully I’ll be able to speak with him tomorrow and get his thoughts on a possible promotion. Our scheduled interview keeps getting delayed.

Tommy Hunter Video

from last night – hits 94 mph against the 2nd batter – he averages about 9 pitches an inning so you can zip right along if you want to watch him pitch a few. The scroll bar and the “full screen” option are your friends.

Cool

he really seems to have an idea of what he is doing. He works fast – love it.
