Milton Bradley blog on New York Times website (Reg required)

Milton Bradley, the Texas Rangers’ designated hitter, was named to his first All-Star team and will play for the American League at Yankee Stadium next week. He will contribute occasional items to the New York Times’s Bats blog about his All-Star experience. This is his first post.
At about 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, I was in the clubhouse in Baltimore in the middle of a domino game with Eddie Guardado, Gary Pettis, and Eric Hurley. Ron Washington was standing over my shoulder talking trash like he always does and had everybody laughing hysterically when he asked me to come see him in his office for a minute.
I dropped everything and headed to his office wondering: "What have I done now?"
He gave me the news and a congratulatory hug, with a smile, but told me to keep the news quiet until it was officially announced. I went back to the domino game like nothing happened but Eddie being the wise vet already knew what’s up. He just smiled and gave me dap on making my first All-Star team.

i can't remember the last time someone wrote so glowingly about the All-Star game
Chris Martin or Cahill need to school Milton on how much of a joke the game really is and he really shouldn’t care because nobody else does.

my dap…
I believe in you, Mr. Bradley.
Whatever ends up happening… between now, and this time next year… just know, that you have brought life to the city of Arlington… the likes of which hasn’t been felt in quite some time.
You’ll always have a home here in Texas, sir. Congratulations.

a domino game with
Everyday Eddie, Milton, Pettis, and Eric Hurley?
Someone seems a bit out of place.

Here are just a few of the key ingredients: dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas, choppers - can you see how incredible this is going to be? - hang gliding, come on! -- Dignan
I say Pettis is out of place...
...since he is the only one of those four whose play as a Ranger routinely made me sick.
Physician: Primum non nocere
Batter: First, make no out
Yeah, Pettis is a coach
but really, how are any of them out of place? do you think one of them can’t play Dominos and therefore should not be in the game, what other reason could there be for someone being out of place.
i don't get who's out of place
pettis i guess but I don’t get the point of that. I guess he’s saying hurley but not sure why

At the risk of falling victim to sarcasm...
He’s saying Hurley because Dominoes is largely an ethnic game?
