Rangers sign LHP Stanford...

Jason Stanford.  Formerly of the Indians and most recently the Mexican League.  He's apparently going to be activated tomorrow before the game and start for us (RedHawks).   I believe someone will have to be taken off the roster to make room for him.

In other news, our starter tonight will be Brian Gordon on 3 days rest...thank god we are playing Albq. so we have a chance to win!

Except for Hunter

the AAA rotation flat out sucks.

the amount of attrition

we have seen over the last month due to injuries, player insanity (Ponson) and roster mismanagement (Tejeda) is just unbelievable.

amazingly

he is currently sporting career ERAs in the 3’s in both the majors and minors per the cube.

His stats

On the cube, look like a travelogue! Hey, he once drew a walk and scored a run.

it looks like he had a promising career

especially for an undrafted guy, until injuries started derailing his career in 2004.

I remember

that dude being pretty highly touted.

"Taylor? What the hell are you doing here?"

Oh you know, couldn’t cut it in the mexican leagues.

I really hope

he gets an opportunity this year in Arlington. He’s been nothing but good for the Rangers farm teams and wow, I’d just like to see a guy not give up on his dream achieve his goal of pitching in the majors. There are bullpen spots available for this team next season and I for one wouldn’t be upset if he earns himself a spot for 2009.

The Rangers really have no pitching in AA or AAA besides Feliz and Hunter (and Harrison when he gets sent back down.) They can’t keep giving starts to relief pitchers.

Whoever they need to grab

until guys like Mathis, Murry, and Mendoza get healthy and can pitch like they have a clue in AAA.

Kiker has been excellent tonight

so far, 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 Ks

Maybe he’ll join Frisco during this season after all.

I think he will

His stuff has been better than his results. He’s a fucking bat breaker. Pardon my language.

As far as

his result, I think getting out of the CAL league will take care of that.

Kiker—Very good to see him finally get the results.

Apparently there was a change of plans...

Stanford didn’t start today, Fukumori did. Jared Hyatt also pitched for us today (though I am guessing he is just here temporarily in an emergency role) and kicked butt. 3 IPs, 1 hit, 3 SOs.
