I was just about to say that…
Last week Arod and Cynthia were huge news in NYC.
This week they are huge national news.
The power of Miles, the child prodigy, catch it!!!!

He has a team option for 2010. The Ballard inclusion and Harrison exclusion really miffed me though.

4 years until Grant places
Ballard at starting pitcher for the Rangers, I don’t think so, the kid looks ready now to me, he was poised with good stuff, it’s time to start looking within sooner and stop throwing away big money for rent a players
Really, Ballard still here??
If its a choice of Ballard or Main, Beavan or Harrison, I gotta think its gonna be one of the latter 3…

Ballard?
I don’t see how he’s still around down the road.

I don’t see him being a permanent member or semi-permanent member of any Ranger rotation in the future.

Evan is so thorough
agree with the treatment with (king) Feliz. wouldn’t mind seeing him spend all of 09 in AA.
all of AA seems like a bit much
i say feliz’s 2009-2010 should mirror Hurley’s 2007-2008

Seems reasonable enough
to me.

2010
Even if he spends all year in the minors in 09 he will still be 21 years old when the 2010 season starts. Lets not screw this one up by rushing him.
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Tommy Hunter shouldn't be brought up this year
There’s no reason to add him to the 40 this season, when he’s all ready pitched 120 innings. The guy has done great things and I think the Rangers are really pleased with his progress but starting his arbitration clock two years early is just asking for trouble. He needs to start next year in OKC and be either an injury callup or be a guy brought up after the all star break in 2009. There’s no need to rush him.
One thing I think Evan really missed...
...is MY’s move to 3B. I suspect it will be earlier than 2011.

and right now
Whittleman doesn’t look like a long term solution.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
And of course Metcalf...
...isn’t likely to be a part of a 3B platoon next year or any other year after next year.

MY to 3B
I could see it going either way (earlier or later).
Grant’s basic premise that he’s the best A.L. SS (by OPS), and would rank 9th at 3rd is valid. You have to keep Young at SS as long as possible. If he’s average defensively at SS, then he’s an asset. Once you move him to 3B, he’s almost by definition a liability (and that’s not even taking his contract into consideration). The move to 3B needs to be put off as long as possible.
All in all, worrying about when Young moves to 3B is about as useful as talking about which catcher we need to trade away. They have a lot of time to figure that out. It may work itself out. Trade opportunities may force the issue. Prospects forcing themselves to the bigs might be the catalyst.
Your low self-esteem is just good common sense.

Don't lose sight
of the fact that Young can be above-average defensively at 3rd. The offensive hit is tolerable; while the defensive hit isn’t if you keep him at SS.

well at lest he talked about the horrible schedule this year.
the rangers got hosed on that one…no wonder attendance is down. it seemed like evertime one of the big holidays would roll around that would always bring the people out no matter weather they where good or not we are on the road. maybe they will listen to nolan or he’ll put them in a head lock and beat the crap out of them.
odd...
...Grant projected that we would sign Zambrano and Santana last year after the Teixiera trade…
...but, no mention of Sheets or Sabathia.
