sorry. I actually left in disgust after the 1-2-3 inning in the 7th (Hamilton with an ugly K) to go run an errand and came back when it was 2-1 to Hamilton.
so, perfect timing

I left after that and made a quick run to Sonic, came back with FOTF batting in the 9th. So really, if it wasn’t for ab03 and I leaving and changing the Karma needless to say the Rangers would not have won. :)

Man...what a moment that was.
I was behind home plate with my dad. He was listening to his radio, and as soon as they updated the Seattle score on the radio, he just stood up and started clapping, along with a few hundred other random people with radios.
Gosh….what a moment.

that reminds me..
the day after the all star selections they had a graph showing all the backups. it is 11 people, 3 of which are rangers and 1 is some other al west team.
the announcer then says the 11 man reserves is dominated by the al central, with whatever the other al west player (non-ranger) the only representative of the al west.

I have never seen the crowd at the ballpark as jacked up as it was after Josh hit that dinger. When he swung you could just see it clear the fence. I was Amazing. Everyone was standing up and making noise without being prompted. It was electric. I have to admit I didn’t feel good about the outcome before the game started but Warner threw about 30 pitches in 3 inning and gave up a run. Rupe did a nice job keeping us in the game. Frankie gave up the 2 run homer and then Wright did a very nice job to finish out the game.

we're a better team

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
I disagree.
At least on the first part. I thought the Rockies were a better team who were getting underrated and playing a little under their heads.
Got to disagree
The Rangers have 3 MVP candidates right now on offense, an amazing year out of Vazquez, every rookie is making an instant impact. The pitching favors the Rockies a lot more, but they only came together in the second half. Starters had a first half ERA of 4.71 and relievers had a first half ERA of 4.47. The Rangers though have dealt with more injuries throughout the entire team too.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Yeah, I seriously doubt we'll ever agree on this.
I’m not sure where to find any sort of evidence that could sway one or the other.
Maybe if someone could find third order wins for them through the first 88 games.
true re; injuries
the Rockies dealt with the same injuries as we have had this year, and look at them compared to last year. basically, last season EVERYTHING had to fall in the right way for them to make their run last year. if we had EVERYTHING fall in place this year, we’d have opened with healthy Millwood, Padilla, McCarthy, Gabbard, figured out really quickly that Mendoza wasn’t our 5th starter and gone with Hurley sooner or later, had CJ, Jack Benny, and Frankie Fran doing their thing, Fukumori would have been the 2nd coming (of Otsuka), Rupe, Wright and Guardado would have all been doing what they can do, Hank would’ve stayed healthy (although not sure if that’s the best for us seeing how well Vazquez is playing) and Laird wouldn’t have gone down. We still would’ve found a way to get rid of Broussard and call Davis up, and I guarantee with all of those things happening, we would be a few games on top of the Angels right now. That is BEST case scenario. That is what happened to the Rockies last year. We are much more talented, in my opinion, than their team was last year. Their top four of Holliday, Helton, Atkins and Hawpe are pretty good but I don’t think as effective as our top for. Not sure their pitching was better than what our maximized rotation potential could be. Not sure about that at all…

Well, another thing is the Rox had some better pitchers
With Jeff Francis and Ubaldo Jimenez. No way with our current rotation we could do what they did. But with our offense, and our young players, this team could be a dangerous dark horse next year.
"My keyboard is a Yankees fan" - Whipsmart
I think the big difference between us and them is bullpen.
That bullpen was mighty beginning sometime in August. It’s hard to imagine our guys flipping that switch.
with hurley, harrison and mccarthy all posibly in the rotation down the stretch
its not out of the realm of possibility that 2 of the 3 could go on runs the first time trough the league.
unlikely though.
the preceding post is not nearly as negative or insulting as you think it is
Definitely not out of the realm of possibility.
But I’ll be very cautious with my optimism. I thought a lot more of the Rockies at this time last year than I do the Rangers now, as exciting as games like this are.
I wouldn't count on it
and wouldn’t make trades based on the possibility that it could happen, but stranger things have happened like a team not losing a game for a month.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
theres nothing that could happen to make me want to be a significant buyer
unless you are talking very minor deals.
but, if the unlikely event occurs and the rangers seem to have it going and get closer (6.5 is still way out, and could easily be 7.5 in a day) it might persuade me to just take the draft pics for bradley rather than want to trade him now.
a ways off from that point though
the preceding post is not nearly as negative or insulting as you think it is
I agree with this.
If we’re playing at LEAST as well as we are right now and within a series of taking first place (or any such similar scenario) closing in on the deadline, I would like to keep Bradley and see what happens.

They're Winning In Spite Of Things
I know it’s probably a little bit of the hangover from the walkoff, but for the first time in several years I get the feeling that victories like tonight’s and situations like either halving a series or taking two out of three from teams like the Angels and As is no longer exceptional.
Don’t get me wrong…this was as sweet a win as I can remember in recent memory. It’s just that I feel like they’re turning the corner as a team from always having something to point at as the reason for a loss to winning IN SPITE OF those reasons.
I think that’s part of the reason they’ve been bumping around .500 for so long. They’re getting it. In spite of the errors and in spite of the pitching, they’re figuring how out to win.
That’s pretty damned exciting!
Has to be...
one of the greatest Rangers wins I’ve ever seen. I’m no Ed, but I’ve been a huge fan since the early 90’s.
Just a great moment. Josh is a Beasticon.
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates
For me too
My fandom is still in its infancy (I’m on my fourth season), but I can’t remember a more gratifying win.

Years don't matter
A walkoff, come from behind win is great stuff. From any game, from any decade. I was so happycited tonight I thought I’d won the lottery. Then I checked, and realized I didn’t buy a ticket.

That scene with the animal crackers is freaking epic
two of the worst actors of this (or any) generation working from some of the worst material ever written by any writer ever… So epic.

I missed the freaking game. Only got to see the first two innings then went out to play soccer. We f*ing lost! Badly! I twisted my freaking ankle! I might have to miss work tomorrow. The freaking food after the game was cold! The idiots gave us the wrong order! And my freaking dog peed on the carpet!
Lesson learned.

Pure greatness
I love it when an announcer actually enhances a moment like he did with that guttural yelp.

Hamilton's homer...
leads off Sportscenter on the midnight edition which I assume will be the same tomorrow morning as well.
Stars in a Texas Night Sky, a Dallas Stars blog from a fan's perspective.
Been out of town for two weeks
with no internet and only my blackberry to get Rangers scores…
And I roll back into town in time to go with my brother to last night’s game and tonight’s game…needless to say I am drunk and ecstatic and missed me some LSB.
GO RANGERS!!!!!!

I almost didn't go to the game tonight.
That was probably the most exciting finish I’ve ever seen live at the ballpark. You could feel it in the damned air when Young singled in the 3rd run that Hamilton was going to win it in a walk off. That shot was freakin’ vicious. I damned near lost my voice screaming when he hit that ball. Hambone is a freakin’ baseball god on earth.
We had a couple of Angels fans down the row from us
and the look on their faces was priceless. I damn near took a picture. We had been chattin em up the whole game and on the way out even they were asking why the hell KRod didn’t just walk Hammy….to quote an LSB poster from I don’t remember when;
“Every pitch the pitcher throws to Hamilton is recorded as an E1.”
That one definitely qualified.

genious.

hamilton rbis
has gotten it back into the realm of possibility that he could get to 100 rbis by the break.
11 in 4 games wouldnt exactly be easy, but it could happen.
now if only john lackey wern’t starting one of those games… and pretty good whitesox pitchers the rest..

wow
im sitting here the lone rangers fan in New Jersey getting chills reading this blog.. I lived there in the 80s moved here and the nineties only to have our two playoff runs ended by the hometown team. as i watched the walkoff on mlb.com as it happened, it made me feel like this team can do something THIS season..
btw.. on Mike and Mike this morning, when the subject of the AL West was brought up.. Greeny said the Angels were the favorite and the As were still in it… Golic jumped in and said.. DONT FORGET THE RANGERS, THEY”RE NOT OUT OF IT..
LETS GO RANGERS!!!
"Water covers 2/3 of the world, T-New's got the rest"
They are replaying it on FSN right now
Took an hour to replay most of the game and it’s almost to Josh. Even though I know it’s coming, I might frighten some co workers because there is a good chance I yell anyway. This makes for a nice lunch break.
