WAY Off-Topic I know, but Facebook Question?
I know a lot of you facebook (since you quote players pages! LOL) so I was hoping someone could help me out. One of my friends has convinced me to finally get a facebook account because she said a bunch of our old HS friends are on there. I signed up and did searchs by school, but I can't view anyone's page? They all come up private. Is facebook defaulted to private? Or does everyone set their page to private? Or am I just missing somethng? I found a few people I think are old friends but their pics are too small to tell definitely and their last name is different. I figured if I could see their page I can tell if it is them based on what they say (like you can on myspace) but I can't access anyone's page. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance! (and yes, sorry to waste space on an OT matter!)

Most Facebook pages default to private
or at least most are set that way in my experience. You have to look at the little photo and scant info and decipher if they’re your old friend or not.
It’s vexing and it’s one of the reasons I’m not crazy about facebook.
You might have to just bite the bullet and send them a friend request or maybe a quick message.
“Are you so-and-so from place x?” Something like that.

Most are private
However the default setting is that those within the same network as you can view your profile. Some have changed that setting, some people have not. So if they are in the same facebook network as you, there is a better chance of you being able to view their profile without having to friend them.

I'm on the fence
Right now my Facebook is set to private – you have to be a friend to see my profile. I’m not sure whether I want to open it up though – I’m a member of the Facebook LSB group, so people from here should be able to find me, and I’ve found a lot of the people I would want to keep in touch with anyway.

Then what would you think
If I said I’ve never been on facebook or myspace?
We need to hire Chuck Norris to kick the ass of any Ranger fan caught booing one of our young pitchers at the RBiA.

Thanks!
So I followed y’alls advice and starting messaging people asking if they were so and so. One was and one wasn’t so I think that worked out okay! :-)
I have to agree that I prefer myspace, but that may be because I am more used to it. I have a hard time imagining someone not using one or the other! They are a great tool for keeping in touch with old friends, and meeting new people. I know some of the people around the park send friend requests to current and future RedHawks (one girl actually went through the media guide looking for players?!?!?) which I think is pushing it…of course, I guess I can’t say much because I’m “friends” with John Danks and Pete Zoccolillo! :-) LOL
Oh, and miles, if you send me your myspace link I’ll add you as a friend…I don’t know how to find you or I would send you a request.
