scattershooting while wondering whatever happened to...

mark connor.

i wanted to take this opportunity to say how glad i am that the rangers made a much-needed change at pitching coach.  i can't imagine how much worse the worst team in baseball (ERA and unearned runs) would be if he was still wreaking havoc on the staff.

i know - it's too soon to get up the new guy's ass, but i am laughing uncontrollably at the mess he stares at every day.  feldman is stretched beyond his limit, dl millwood is perpetually hurt (and SUCKS when he actually shows up), mendoza is circling the drain...  on and on.  i know he has nothing to work with and no time yet to make his presence felt, but WOW this staff is HORRIBLE.

he's either got the worst job ever or the best opportunity ever.  i mean if he waits around long enough, the staff gets  better even with no input from him.  win - win or lose - lose?

patience

Wait until Nolan has a chance to work with Mendoza and Harrison.

Nolan Ryan should be the Rangers president, GM, manager and pitching coach.

Luis Mendoza

I just don’t know what to say. I really thought he could be good, but at this point I just can’t see him ever being a quality major league pitcher. He is just truly horrible.

Yep

Every time he is about to be out of the rotation he comes up with a decent start, and then sucks for the next four or five outings. He isn’t a major league pitcher.

they're too stupid to quit starting mendoza

No

there just isn’t anyone else to start right now. Everyone is injured.

Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

And to add to that

Would you rather just ride Mendoza and hope for the best, or ruin a younger, more valuable arm (in the long term) in a vain hope to win?

Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

His answer...

to every pitching question is simple. Gordon, and his 5.24 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in AAA.

He solves all the pitching problems on this team right now.

i say you let mendoza go to AAA where he can work on his command

and let a veteran come up or sign a free-agent veteran. if they suck then who cares, its not like we care about their confidence and we’re not in a race

Sign a free agent in August?

The bullpen

is in his near future.

I do not believe that Mendoza will ever be a guy that can handle the rotation and be successful in any way but he was really good when we had him pitching out of the bullpen and that where he should stay.

AJM

Yours, and Conners, credibility has taken a major hit in the last week. Are you still on the Mendoza bandwagon?

Nolan Ryan should be the Rangers president, GM, manager and pitching coach.

Botts

My eyeballs told me to stay off the Botts bandwagon despite the peripherals. :)

Yep.

That was a bad swing. I guess you can hit minor league mistakes with it, and god knows there are enough of them to be a good AAAA hitter.

I'm sure the Russians felt there were WMD's in Georgia, and that it was a hotbed of terrorism.
