that plus
the home-heavy schedule should allow them to finish with around 84 wins or so

no, this month will put them in the hole too deep
unless the pitching changes (not gonna happen) then they will not finish above 500

Not a chance in hell
If they keep rolling out Mendoza, Hunter, Harrison, Hurley, and Feldman on a regular basis.

Let me rephrase
Not a chance in hell if they keep rolling out the likes of Mendoza, Hunter, Harrison, Hurley, and Feldman on a regular basis.

I say a few games under...
I can’t see the pitching they have right now keeping them over .500.

well....
at the moment of this post there are 49% of posters who are either unabashed Ranger homers or just idiots….

Went 81-81
In the light of my preseason 75-87, that’s a pleasant surprise. What can’t be quantified or guessed at, is how much fun they are to watch.

I guess it all depends on Nolan
He needs to throw some Texas High Heat at these pitchers and whip their asses into shape like a hot bowl of beefy Texas-style chili!
If the Boy Blunder would let the Icon do his thing, this team would be so good in no time!
The man is a HOF’er and one of the greatest pitchers of all time.
He should teach all our pitchers to pitch like him and then we’d win all our games!!!

You just made 3/4ths of LSB snicker,
and 1/4th strap on their 6 guns, hop on their Paints, and head towards ‘ole Arlington for a Boy Blunder lynchin’!

It's gonna be so close I think it's pretty hard to predict.
I said “no,” but I’m going to be at least mildly surprised if we win fewer than 78 games, and mildly surprised if we win more than 84. So about .500, but I think exactly .500 is the least likely of the three since, you know, it’s an exact record.

Baseball Prospectus Odds Report
This was before tonight’s game. These are the most likely records.
Standard
80.4-81.6
PECOTA Adjusted
80-82
ELO Adjusted
81.2-80.8
Until a couple days ago we were barely probable to be above .500, so it’s pretty volitile. Again, I said “no,” but I don’t doubt we can do it. It’ll be close.
Hey! Something to root for!

I think this team will be right about where I predicted at start of season
right around 500. Damn shame the Angels part of my prediction didn’t come true, because they way overperformed their pythags.
I'm sure the Russians felt there were WMD's in Georgia, and that it was a hotbed of terrorism.

Didn't the Angels
do that last year, too?

Last year
they had 4 more wins than pythag projected.
This year, they currently have 9.
Here is the totals since Scioscia has managed.
2000 1
2001 -2
2002 -2
2003 -3
2004 1
2005 2
2006 5
2007 4
2008 9 (currently)
So, the 9 looks way on the high side.
I'm sure the Russians felt there were WMD's in Georgia, and that it was a hotbed of terrorism.

Oddly enough
the Rangers are “lucky” right now according to their P-win totals.

Run Differential
They’re a -45 and only a game above 500.
If they continue to perform as they have all season, and really there’s no reason to believe they won’t, they should finish under tad 500.
