Luis Mendoza sent down

Luis Mendoza has been optioned to AAA to make room for Kevin Millwood on the 25 man roster.

Mild surprise, although I guess either he or Tommy Hunter would have been a reasonable choice.

Is McCarthy close enough to coming back that they think Hunter should only make like 1 or 2 more starts because I thought that they were worried about his innings count?

bullpen

Good choice between Hunter and Mendoza. Let Nippert go into the rotation and Hunter to the pen. It will limit his innings and save his option.

Nolan Ryan should be the Rangers president, GM, manager and pitching coach.

Hey, AJM

I actually like that song…dang good greatest hits album there.

Mendoza was punished for being scared of the strike zone, jmo.

I know young pitchers are going to struggle..

But…
Hunter: 16.36
Mendoza: 8.13
Harrison: 7.07
Hurley: 5.47

Cursed.

Mendoza… whatever. He shouldnt be in the mlb right now, but neither should half our rotation. Will be interesting to see how they go the rest of the way.

Not exactly excited about millwood either.. sigh.

the preceding post is not nearly as negative or insulting as you think it is

Mendoza

belongs in the bullpen. I hope they realize that soon.

Only if

He brings the same stuff he brought when he did work out of the bullpen those 2 times… If he brings the shit he has been bringing lately, he belongs right where he’s going.

I even meant long term

he’s a bullpen guy not a starter.

YES!!!!

Hunter>Mendoza

by a lot IMO.

I don’t even see Mendoza being a serviceable MLer at any point in his career(maybe in the bullpen), however, Hunter has a future in my eyes.

We can sub Mccarthy for Hunter soon though.

Are you kidding?

Mendoza has a great sinker. His numbers are ugly right now but based on what he can do when he’s throwing well, he could be more than serviceable.

Well, he flashed a great sinker...

He flashed it against when he pitched in relief, and versus the White Sox… He has to get more consistent with the pitch.

I'd rather

they beat up Mendoza than Hunter. I would have sent down Hunter to protect him, let him work on his stuff and limit his innings. Let Mendoza be thrown the the wolves.

Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

maybe a distinction without a difference

if they put hunter in the bp and let nippert get knocked around a couple of starts…

yeah

that coud work.
