Neil Ramirez Interview
Neil Ramirez on his approach on the mound:
"Basically, when you get on the mound...I call it attack mode. You really want to go after the hitters. You want to get ahead of them with your fastball. Well, you can get ahead of them with any pitch, but you never want to give in to a hitter and let them think they can beat you. I like to go after hitters; like I said, if I can get ahead of them, I'll put them away. I really like to attack hitters. I like to make sure they aren't comfortable in the batter's box."
*Curious to hear your thoughts about Neil Ramirez as a prospect? Where would you rank him in the Rangers’ system and what do you think his ceiling is?
Adam and Brett: I don't want to abuse the privilege so this will probably be the last thread I start to hype my own stuff. I truly appreciate the platform. Gracias.

Neil Ramirez
I’m scared of him now. I’m afraid he’s gonna come after me and put me away.

Since when does Brett have anything to say about who posts what?
Although I’m of course a faithful reader of BTiA and I’ll read these no matter what, I personally love seeing you post your stuff at LSB in order to reach the wider audience, Jason.

I'd never been to BTiA
so… it worked. very nice, good stuff.
If there were no rewards to reap,
no loving embrace to see me through this tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now... Be patient

I'm Brett
Not that I have much/any say, but he’s not talking about Gardner.
Offense doesn't doubt me, but my first and primemost thing is defense and punt return and kickoff return

Oh ok
My bad.
I just assumed it was Gardner, since, well… he would be one to complain about something like this.

Do we need to start this again?

Fuck Brett Gardner.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Ugggh...
That’s such a gross HGH-head he’s sporting there.
He’s one cycle away from looking totally alien-head like Placido Polanco.

Wow
I seriously laughed like a hyena at this post. Golden Dirkatron humor right there.

cool interview
i never really knew much about him, but i like that he’s confident and hopefully can make some big strides through the system next year. for some reason i always pictured him with a mustache.

Keep posting these here Jason...
Good stuff. Or at least let us know when you have one over at MVN.

To my knowledge
AdMo has never responded publicly to your apologetic postings. Why don’t you just ask him directly off-thread rather than to continue to apologize, post, and retreat? I for one think most people appreciate the interviews as they bring something to the site, call it evidence, actually allowing the prospect to speak instead of allowing us to continually speak for/about them. Anyways, I vote that you keep posting your link without apology, but as soon as you do a bad “homer” interview, watch out…LSB is a fickle bunch…

Funny
Q: Are you going to be a Major League pitcher? Do you have what it takes?
A: Yes, I think I am. The Rangers are a really good organization to help that happen too. I’m looking forward to it.
Now, one can read this answer two ways.
1> The Rangers excel at developing pitchers. So he’s confident he’ll learn to be the best he can be.
2> The Rangers have horrendous pitching at the major league level, and if next year goes how this year has gone, they’ll be dipping into A Ball to get their starters by about August 1st.
I have a feeling he meant #1, but #2 may prove to be more accurate…
Nice interview. I liked that pick last year, and I’m even more excited about him now.

haha
i was thinking that too.
it’s kind of a dumb question though. what’s he supposed to say, “No I will not be a major leaguer”?

I ask every player that question
and Ramirez is the first player to say “yes” without any hesitation. Most players dodge it. Ramirez didn’t.

Is his fb velocity still in mid 90s
He says its still his best pitch, and uses it to setup the curve to be out pitch. Yet most of us see that bender and sees it be such a back breaker pitch to use anytime he wants. I hope he uses it alot more.

well
i do think their answer can give some indication of their make-up and attitude. it just seems like an awkward way to phrase it. but it was a good interview nonetheless and its always interesting to see what our future major leaguers have to say.
by Smoakin in the Boys Room on Aug 16, 2008 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Why dodge it?
That sort of thing can only come back to haunt you if you fail, at which point you have bigger problems than once being confident you’d make it to the big leagues.

Neil Ramirez video
Thinking about this interview made me want to go back and watch him pitch again.
He pitches the bottom of the first three innings HERE.
by shroomer on Aug 16, 2008 5:36 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Is there a Interview jinx?
Only 2.2 innings tonight and 5 walks.
by gamerabcd on Aug 16, 2008 11:17 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
He said they were going to limit his innings
He’s been wild all year. 23 BB in 32 IP.
Like he said, his fastball command still needs work. He will flash top of the rotation stuff one night and then lose his command the next. I’m anxious to see a healthy Neil Ramirez in full season ball. If he puts it together he can be special.

The Jason Parks Curse
It’s evidently like the BaD Radio Curse, only instead of wrecking Drew Bledsoe and Gabe Kapler it wrecks the Rangers’ minor league pitchers. For shame.

I was only joking
BAD radio curse is much more powerful. Only Jason Witten has been safe from its lure.

I really like you "hyping" your stuff
and i think most do…..if your stuff was on BA or BP, people would post a diary with a link anyways, so it’s great that we have one of our own with the access to get these interviews, etc….Valuable information that needs to be shared with LSB

I wrote this a couple of weeks ago
http://baseballhandyman.blogspot.com/2008/08/sleeper-potential-neil-ramirez-sp-tex.html
I’m a HUGE Ramirez fan. I’m awed at the amount of pitching talent the Rangers have in the low minors right now and I’ve been trying to learn all I can about many of them.
