Temperatures and blackouts
I'm scared that we are going to have blackouts or rolling blackouts over the next three or four days. We lost power twice this morning for a total of about 45 minutes. High temps: Today- 105 Sunday - 106 Monday - 107 F*&K!!!!!

Yeah
We’re under a new thing I’ve never seen before – an Excessive Heat Warning. It replaces the Heat Advisory we were under until 7am tomorrow morning, and the Excessive Heat Watch that started at 7am tomorrow and expired at 7pm Monday night.
I’m worried about our guys on the field, too.

excessive heat watch
what exactly is an excessive heat watch anyway? does someone have to officially see that its over 100deg and say “damn thats excessively hot” ?

it's a cliche
but it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity. When the Heat Index goes above a certain point (107° for Heat Advisory, I think) due to the temperature plus the humidity, they start issuing watches and warnings.
Makes me wonder if a Rangers game (or any game for that matter) has ever been called or delayed due to excessive heat. I can’t remember one, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened.

it's bad
but not as bad as the summer of 1980. That one was nasty. 42 straight days over 100°. There was even one night where the temp did not go below 100 overnight!
Yes, I’m old enough to remember 1980.

I was in Arlington for that
and remember it well. Insane.

I wasn’t here for that one, i was living in Arkansas then. It’s months like these when I miss the Ozarks.

Man, when I lived in Arizona during college
we had a week straight where the temperature never dropped below 100. Even at midnight or whatever. It was hell.
