Nelson Cruz?
Does anybody know why Nelson Cruz is not in the lineup tonight for Oklahoma? Hopefully he's headed toward Arlington tonight....or is he injuried? Maybe somebody knows something or has link?
What a game last night. The Rangers pitching still stinks but maybe firing the pitching coaches with that but with an Offense that is ranked in the top 2-3 in the league for most categories they were able to pull another one out...it's fun to watch them do that night after night even if they don't win them all.
Anyway links....

Who knows...
Traded, called up, day off, minor injury. All are possible I guess.
I would really like to see him on his way to Arlington though.

+1!
Nellie deserves another shot, but if he can be traded for something useful then you do it.

Cruz
The Farm Report—8/2/2008
By Scott Lucas August 2, 2008
AAA: at Oklahoma 4, Las Vegas 5
Loss: McCarthy (0-1, 6.59)
Joaquin Arias went 3-5 with his 4th homer. John Mayberry walked and hit a solo homer, his 13th in AAA, in the 4th. Nelson Cruz (.344/.434/.710) singled and doubled. He strained a quad sliding into second in the 5th and had to depart, leading to several defensive switches including 27-year-old Nick Trzesniak’s first professional appearance at third base.
Brandon McCarthy surrendered five runs in 5.1 innings.

One more for McCarthy
I would rather he pitch one more time in Oklahoma before coming back up here. Just don’t believe he has proven anything yet.

JD should be held
responsible and accountable for trading away Johnny Danks for brittle ass injury prone Brandon McCarthy. Don’t get me wrong here, I’ve been as supporitive of Brandon as most people have benn. But it’s becoming very obious that JD FUCKED UP YET AGAIN. Jon Daniels better get his shit togather or he’s liable to be gone come 2009

Well.. it's a long story
But, I’m going to tell you the story.
This is what happen. I got a DUI last year. Been married for a long time, Kids are grown. So I get the DUI and get into a argument with a Dallas County sheriff’s deputy. Guy was a jerk btw. One of those gung ho 20 year olds freash out of the police academy. Anyway, I go to jail., go to court, etc. Wife says I have a drinking problem and need help. So I go away to a California alcohol drug program for nearly two months. Then I come back and my wife of over 20 years wants me back and says shes so sorry that I never should have gone away that one DUI was just a mistake. So we talk about divorce because I’m so tired of all the preasure of the house payments, her bills, etc. So she said she still loves me and she does not want a divorce and says for me to take some time to my self. She’s gone to Fort Worth to stay with her sister and is waiting for me to what she said, get my shit togather

It sounds like...
you have been through a lot, sorry to hear that. It may sound corny, but you damn sure aren’t going to find the answer to your problems at the bottom of a bottle. If you put forth the effort to go get help in Cali don’t just throw that away. If you go back to just drinking “a little” you will slip back into old habits. Good luck to ya Hurler.

Yeah...
but i don’t have a problem. That’s what is really making me mad. I’ve had one problem and that was the DUI i had last year. Damn, I went to UT..yes Texas and graduated. I served 7 years in the Army and have held down a pharmaceutical sales job for a long time.

all it takes is one time.
I had the DUI, and I’ve had quite a lot of problems. I quit drinking after St. Patty’s day this year, when I lost my shit pretty badly. I went out last night and got pretty drunk (no whiskey, as that’s always my downfall) and I lost my shit BIG time. All it takes is one time. Not a repetitive situation, not a drinking problem where you keep going at it every night or both nights of every weekend. If your family and friends and job and past and future mean enough to you, you’ll figure it out and make it all work out in the end.
Best of luck.

He has to held accountable for Danks
Agreed there.
As far as getting his act together, would getting one of the top five pitching prospects in the minors thrown into a deadline deal that doesn’t look to bad iwth just the other players involved, or getting an extremely valuable major league ready prospect, a potential star CF and his current LF for two rent-a-players qualify? How about drafting a guy in the supplemental round one year ago who is already in his rotation? He’s done all of that since the ill-fated Danks move.
Offense doesn't doubt me, but my first and primemost thing is defense and punt return and kickoff return

I don't want to harp...
but a rotation of Chris Young, John Danks, Armando Galarraga and any other two of Padilla, Millwood, Hurley would probably have this team leading the Wild Card right now. Maybe by a few games, too. Sorry, I know we’ve bitched a lot about this, and Daniels has pulled off some promising moves for the future, but wow.

Cruz to DL
Cruz to DL
Minor-league outfielder Nelson Cruz is headed to the disabled list after suffering a strained quadriceps muscle Friday in a game for Triple-A Oklahoma, general manager Jon Daniels said.
The injury will be examined Monday by Dr. Keith Meister, said Daniels, and Cruz will head to the Rangers’ spring-training home in Surprise, Ariz., to rehab an injury that will likely keep him out of action for longer than a week.
Cruz is destroying the Pacific Coast League with 37 homers, 98 RBI and a .344 average.
