indifferent
maybe I’d like to read the transcripts of them.
overall…i’m just too lazy.
Greatest Inventions Ever? 1. TiVO, 2. Boobs, 3. Baseball
Overall I like them
But I dislike the format. No offense to whoever hosts them, but I care very little for most of what he has to say.
I’d prefer to have more back and forth discussion between Adam and Jamey, instead of the host throwing one question to one guy, then a different question to the other.
And I’d like to see Adam and Jamey be a little less polite and have a genuine discussion or things they disagree on.
But I do really enjoy them, in general.
and when they disagreed
if they could throw banana cream pies at each other, that would make it even better.

agreed
wouldnt mind throwing out the host and adding hindman and turning it more into an in depth back and forth rangers discussion between the three and less of a failed glossy espn/fox baseball show. it might be better if it was more of a crosstalk format and less of a larry king host thing.
once a show have lucas or some1 do a segment discussing whose hot and whose not on the farm and any promotions etc. and make it a regular segment.
its a good show, and its useful, but “whats your favorite rangers uni” segments kill me.
good stuff though. def. adds to the rangers coverage.
maybe a player interview every week if possible? just a thought.

Hey, now!
Adam’s language gets a little blue about 20 minutes in.

Whoops, older podcast
I’d accidentally clicked away from the page, and when I came back, for some reason the ‘trade deadline’ podcast played. In any case, the word in question was ‘bullspit.’

This whole
“trade for (Insert veteran)” nonsense needs to stop. Seriously.
Look at our team this year, our success is built on the backs of breakout superstars (Hamilton/Kinsler) and veteran guys with career years (Bradley/Byrd). What’s worse, Hamilton and Kinsler are still rather fragile players and I don’t exactly have confidence in Bradley, Byrd, Laird, et all to repeat their current performance. Add that to a negative run differential, and it is quite clear that this is not the makings of a team ready to compete with the addition of another starter, even if that guy is Halladay, never mind a guy like Greinke.
To me, the only people in play for the Rangers are veterans like Byrd and Laird, as well as one of Teagarden, Max or Salty.
+1
Jamey’s Kazmir hypothetical today is an exercise in futility.
I've got a bit of the alcohol in me.
So this may be relatively incoherent.
1. It doesn’t make sense for the Rays. They’re giving away a 24 year old ace who they just extended for a reasonable amount of money. Shields (9.25mm total in the next 4 years) and Garza will both be there for at least the next four years. The rest of their rotation is cheap as hell, so I don’t think he represents any sort of salary burden. Yes, they have Price/Davis/Helickson coming, but that hardly makes Kazmir expendable (I know you didn’t make that argument, just mentioning it). Plus, from a common sense point of view, why would they trade their ace for prospects when they’ve proven they’re ready to contend?
2. That package you mentioned (Andrus, Kiker, Laughter, and either Pimentel or Moreland) is far too cheap. I know you just threw it out there as an example, but there’s no way we could not include Feliz, Holland or Davis in a deal like that.
3. I don’t think this is the kind of deal JD will look to do. I see us trading for a pitcher, but a Greinke/Bailey/McGowan type pitcher. A guy with tremendous upside that hasn’t fulfilled his potential yet.
The thing is, when guys like you throw out Kazmir and guys like EG throw out Halladay, it creates unreasonable expectations. People read your stuff; when you write stuff like that, people who don’t know better will expect us to land that kind of quality pitcher.
I don't think so
Jamey’s proposals are never like the random crap that gets answered in Sullivan’s Q & A’s. He presents players that a team might have a reason to move for the right price. He’s not throwing out lame Cruz for Kershaw type deals.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
i agree
with your cruz for kershaw deal

I've enjoyed the podcasts
they could use some tweaking, but make for good listening.

Good podcast
I’d like to see more audience interaction, though. Perhaps instead of Ted directing the discussion all the time, we can have Jamey and Adam and Ted discuss some audience proposed questions.
Email some questions in...
…and I’m sure Ted will throw them out there to us.

yeah
thats what i was thinking too.
The podcasts are enjoyable but it generally seems like most of the discussion centers around stuff thats already been covered in one manner or another on a blog, message board, newspaper article, etc. I guess there are usually some new tidbits. I think adding a mailbag segment with a variety of questions could be good. Also, maybe a regular segment where you pick one propsect or young Rangers to examine in-depth. And lastly I like the idea of getting some sort of guest in when possible. Whether its someone employed by the team or a sportswriter or just another perspective that the three of you can milk a little.

I love 'em
makes my jogs that much more better. I’d like to see JD on one of them of course, not sure that’s plausible though. I guess more of the same, maybe an ‘outside’ guest every podcast?
to me, abortion is not a religious issue, it's a common sense one...
Wow AJM...
a Randy Galloway bobblehead. How much would it cost to pry that bad boy away from ya?

I've enjoyed the podcasts.
I’d like to see them expanded next season, maybe with a guest commentator every week. I’d really like to hear Z get involved when you talk about prospects.
And including Ben on a few of them is a must—but only if you don’t censor him at all.
I was thinking the same thing.
My favorite podcast was the one with Evan Grant. I’m sure there are enough guys in the Rangers blogging universe to keep a “plus one” rotation.
Ted occasionally has good input, but for the most part I feel like he’s a little over-polished. Certainly, any round-table discussion needs a mediator, but he comes across as generic sports dude to me, whereas Adam and Jamey are two of more knowledgeable baseball/Rangers guys in this realm.
Outside of that, I’d really just like to see them come out more often. I know it’s difficult to devote the extra time given how much you already invest in the world of the Rangers, though.
Uniform issue.
You really need to lighten up on this uniform malaise you have going, Adam. What kind of guy spends tons of money on the Lima dress and won’t buy a Rangers jersey? Weak dude.
Hey now
In all the decades I’ve followed baseball, I have yet to buy even one team jersey, not even a golf shirt. I watch baseball to see baseball played, and am a serious fan “without adornment” of any sort. On the other hand, the Melissa Lima dress is a piece of cultural lore, mixing patriotic legacy, pathos, sexual attraction, and the timeless cast of the great game. (Migawd, did I borrow that from Josey?)

I think AJM
could give Sturm a run for his money on longest possible answer without stopping.
But, another good listen, thanks guys.

Prospect Profile
I think the podcast are awesome. I think a lot of the ideas so far have been good. I really like the idea of the fans getting some questions answered. Maybe you could put a post up like you do for Evan Grant’s questions.
Also, I would really like to see a section each time with a prospect profile. I know you talk about prospects all the time in the podcast, but maybe devote 5 minutes to one specific prospect each podcast. Just a thought, that is the type of things I really enjoy listening to.
Otherwise I think the podcast are great. Will they continue in the off-season?
I was disappointed
there wasn’t more zywica. It would be great to have a minor league wrap up after all the seasons end discussing some of the highlights. We do that a bit here, but having minds like Adam, Jamey, zywica in the same room would be very different. In a year when much of the positives in the organization were in the minors, zywica was an underused asset.
Overall, they’ve been very enjoyable, though I have a hard time listening for that length of time. Can they all be 30 minutes or less?
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
