Weird Hamburger splits

I’d be willing to guess those walks all came in one or two games, or otherwise closely bunched together like that. Maybe he had a stretch of not getting laid for a couple of weeks and his forearm was sore because of it. ;)

and it wasn’t to start the year either. Right in the middle of 2 solid months control wise.

I wonder if he was working on some offspeed pitches or tinkering with his delivery.

My earlier theory about the walks being clustered together was pretty close to true. No word on the getting laid thing.

He had zero walks until July 11, when he walked two in three innings. His next appearance, July 14, he walked four in one inning. he had a walk-free appearance on the 18th, then had one-inning, two-walk performances on the 21st and 24th. He walked no one on the 25th, and then walked three in one inning on the 27th. He’s had zero walks since.

…that the dude’s last name is Hamburger. Odd in a good kind of way.
