New Ranger Unis Rumor
This was posted today on www.uniwatchblog.com.
Uni Watch News Ticker: This has to be filed in the “Rumor” category for now, but Chris Josephson, who’s part of the Rangers’ TV crew in Arlington, checked in last night with the following: “I’ve heard from a few different people in the press box that the Rangers will have a few jersey changes next year. First off, none of the jerseys will say ‘Rangers’ anymore — every jersey will have ‘Texas,’ just like the current road grays and blue alternates. There’s also talk of a red alternate being thrown into the rotation. No word on what it will look like. I personally hate the idea of a red jersey, but fans have been calling for red’s return because the Rangers haven’t made the playoffs since the team got rid of the red about 10 years ago.”

Red was and is always great
changing that was downright moronic.

Loves me some red
The red just looked so much better than the blue does. Doesn’t make sense that they changed it up. I would love to have the good ole red shoed Rangers back.
they changed it up b/c
the team wasnt ever red before, they traditionally werent red, they totally shitcanned every aspect of tradition until came to their senses, at least now we have some semblance of a traditional rangers uni.

I did a uniform concept
A few months ago that was well received in an older fanpost.
Dark brown, tan, and a green-silver (similar to the Cowboys shade)
Not a fan
I don’t like the script, the two-toned hat (but a blue bill with that T, provided the rest of the scripts are built around it wouldn’t be bad), and don’t like vests as primary options.
I’d actually like to see any scripts go a little more Western, and not Western in a “now we look just like the Angels” kind of way.
take your pick i did a bunch a while ago.

Certain shades of brown and yellow could be cool
Very Texas-y, imo.
But Brown and blue is terrible.

So long as the hat can be worn this way
the uniform will be fine.

Here was the concept I mentioned earlier
At the time it was more of a “doing something to kill time” thing (I’m a graphic design dork, obv.), but I think, even in r/w/b I thought I had a solid start.
That's actually very sharp
And it’s a little unique, especially now that the Padres have eschewed their Brown and yellow look for a more ambiguous navy blue bleck kind of color scheme… which would be a nice change from the “Hey, we look exactly like the Blue Jays” color scheme we rock now and the “Hey, we look exactly like the Cardinals” color scheme we rocked before that.
I don’t really like the “Revolver Steel”, though. Too much like those hideous Mavs 3rd jerseys from a few years back. I’d rather see the “alternate” be the primary road uni.
I really wish they’d consider those actually.
Good job, dude.

I really like it
But there aren’t any sleeveless versions. I know there are not many on here that like the sleeveless look, but I really feel that it is sharp, especially with the warmer temps and elongated roadtrips (i.e., varied merchandising options in different markets.)
I would definitely go with the “sand” color for the traditional roads though.

here's the problem...
this is basically the same front design, which bugs me more than the whole “red/blue” argument.
it’s just blocky letters on a blank background.
teams like the Royals and Orioles can pull off the plainness because the cursive script makes their unis more active. when it’s just block letters, like yours, or the current Ranger whites… it’s not dynamic… it’s just “floaty”… even with the number.
the ol’ Ranger reds might have been blocky, but the piping gave it more dimension.
the font choice ain’t bad though.
If they can't be winners Red
they may as well be steaming pile of shit Brown, instead of losers Blue.

Red
Are we talking red as in white/grey with the red piping like we had before
Or are we talking red like the blue unis we have now only red

Blue Rangers Uniforms
The Nolan era jerseys with the Rangers in cursive was always my fav… Think they still use them as warm-ups or in Spring Training.
Someday I will become a RangerMAN!

Red sucks.
They always looked like clowns in those uniforms.
dont give a shit
what the jerseys look like. just keep improving.
I'm pretty sure there are more red teams than any other color
Reds, Cards, Angels, Red Sox, Indians (stretch I guess), Braves, Phillies, Nationals…I might have missed a couple others
I wouldn’t mind a red alternate like the rumor says, but a full on red uniform is not the way to go. People just associate it with the good teams of the 90’s. If those teams had been wearing pink and purple, that’s what people would be screaming for now.

I agree with this ...
… too many teams already in red, including one of our most hated divisional rivals. I am all for a revamp or change but going back to red because they made the playoffs in red is a loser mentality for the franchise. Sure, they made the playoffs, but they won ONE FRICKEN GAME. If being 1-9 all time in the playoffs is good enough to switch to red uniforms, then I don’t even know what to say.
Red Sox, Indians, Braves, Nationals
Could also be portrayed as blue with red secondary, which, along with us, just kind of makes the whole look generic.
Although the Nationals are weird, in the sense that they try to balance blue and red evenly.
Red Sox
Blue? I mean, blue and red are both secondary colors for them, I guess.
Still, with the Angels in the same division, the Rangers will never go back to the red jerseys. At least not the same style they had before, since the Angels wear essentially the same thing now.

nats balanced?

Now look at their roads.

Yes, the Cardinals also have navy caps/helmets, but they don’t keep the navy heavy throughout the uniform (script and numbers are still red) unlike the Nats.
every team you listed is a much darker blue
its not remotely close to the same color as ranger blue.
dodgers and royals. those are the only 2 teams that have remotely close a color.

Cubs
But yes, most other teams are switching to/have always been navy.
But even the Rangers royal has gotten darker than it used to be.
ah the cubs
i knew id forget one.

I, for one,
would be for a COMPLETE overhaul. Hire a merchandising firm to do field research, go through another year of the current set up (which I am actually a fan of) and come up with a completely new concept to be announced January of 2010 to be initiated beginning spring training of 2010.
I like what’s been done with TB and AZ lately. The Reds should always be red (for obvious reasons), but I like their new “concept.” I’m not completely on board with what the Angels have done, they look too much like guys that play softball on Wednesdays and gather in the parking lot to drink a few later on.
Go with a totally new design, incorporate different colors besides just red and blue, change the landscape to go along with the new faces of the team moving forward.

Arizona
looks way too much like Houston for my money. Although Houston still doesn’t really look like Houston in brick, tan, and black. They belong in navy and orange.
I didn’t care for the TB look either… I understand their reasoning behind going with the navy heavy (courting Yankees fans), but two-toned blue for a color scheme is such a fad thing right now, and they can’t decide if their mark is Sun Rays or Rays like the Devil Rays were. It annoys me.
birds of a feather?

looking like our hated rivals would make me wanna puke.

+1
It’s kind of irking that the Angels basically just stole our old design, but since they’re the ones winning all the division titles of late, there’s no going back for us. Blue is our color until the Angels change theirs.
We need to hire Chuck Norris to kick the ass of any Ranger fan caught booing one of our young pitchers at the RBiA.
am i the only one that's fine with blue?
maybe a different design but stick with blue…..i guess i wouldn’t mind with a red alternate jersey but still blue needs to stay……once Holland, Feliz, Smoak, Max, Elvis, Borbon, etc. make it up here in 2010 it won’t matter what the hell they’re wearing…..
