Congratulations, Seattle Mariners

Congratulations are in order for the Seattle Mariners, who are the first team to be officially, mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this year.

Way to go, Seattle!

And I called them to win the divison....

I think I overestimated that pitching a little bit.

Plaschke: Scioscia, the former Dodgers catcher, is the model manager who has created an atmosphere of winning.
Junior:It's that simple. Mike Scioscia brings a Glade Plug-In labeled "Winning™" into the clubhouse and everyone who breathes it in gains 15 points in average.

don’t think anyone thought they would totally blow the way they do…

I had them

as last in the West. Didn’t think they would be that bad tho.

You also

overestimated Johjima, Sexson, and their DH

But you’re completely right. Batista and Silva have completely sucked this year.

I think they're just eliminated from the division race

The wild card elimination is still a couple of days away.

Aikman and Bradshaw?

Please. They are in the same league as Trent Dilfer and Jim McMahon as QBs who were taken to the SB by great Defenses and great Running Games.

We need to hire Chuck Norris to kick the ass of any Ranger fan caught booing one of our young pitchers at the RBiA.

Yay Seattle!

Make sure to save room on the “We suck” bandwagon as we’ll be there soon, followed shortly thereafter by the Yankees.

Are you sure?

Padres look like they’re eliminated, too, unless I’m mistaken (a distinct and almost sure possibility).

The Padres

not eliminated because their division sucks so hard.

by FirebatM3 on Aug 28, 2008 5:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah.

God, that is an awful, awful division.

worse division:

AL West or NL West?

by oc on Aug 28, 2008 7:49 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

NL West

By a mile. At the absolute very least, at least the AL West has an elite team. The NL West is two mediocre-at-best teams (Dodgers and Diamondbacks), a pretty lousy team (Rockies) and two dreadful teams (Padres and Giants).

Looks like the Pads are technically still mathematically possible. My bad.

Googling Terry Glenn

Is Stanback any good at receiving? He looked pretty athletic returning kicks.

After that what — Danny Amendola and that Jefferson guy?
