I really want Feldman to finish strong this year.

Who ever would have thought he would be here making the impact that he is making. I for one was not. I remember how I was ready to write him off. Who would have that that he is our most dependable starter this year?

Good luck Feldman. Here is to you and your future with this team. I hope your arm doesn’t fall off.

He's been throwing a lot of pitches this year

He’s averaging about 102 pitches per start which includes 10 starts going to 110 pitches and another one at 109. Great talent, but I’m guessing Dusty will kill his career.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Naw

It is an interesting study in contrasts. I grew up in Fort Worth, where the worry was tornados…but with tornados, you had no warning. They just showed up.

With hurricanes, it is sloooooow. Landfall probably would be sometime on Tuesday, and here we are on Friday, having notices to make sure your gas tank is full.

With Eduoard, the town largely shut down, and it ended up being no big deal. I imagine the same thing will happen with this, if it ends up heading our way…everyone will hunker down, eat Poptarts, and watch the news show the same bits of news over and over and over again.

It isn’t really panic. It is more like your mother telling you to wear clean underwear.

Hah

Remember eating Pop Tarts when Rita came up through NE Texas and we lost power. Usually never eat ’em, either.

The current models have it making landfall a bit east of the TX/LA border, at which point it’ll apparently cut NNE and move into NE Texas…given Tyler’s well-earned reputation for having perhaps the worst drivers in the state, as well as drivers that panic and seem to top out their speedometers at 30 mph if there’s as so much as a snowflake, it should be a fun experience trekking through this if it retains tropical storm intensity this far inland like Rita did…

So stay the hell out of this neck of the woods next week, pretty much.

Apparently...

…Wal-Mart stocks a whole crapload of Pop-Tarts in areas where a hurricane is headed, because people buy a bunch of them when hurricanes are coming in.

From Dr. Jeff Masters
Today is the 3rd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s catastrophic hit on the Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama coast. Unfortunately, I think that people living in New Orleans should mark the anniversary of Katrina by getting the heck out of the city. You live at the bottom of a bowl, much of it below sea level. While New Orleans must exist where it is, this is not natural. Nature wants to fill up this bowl with huge quantities of Gulf of Mexico sea water. There is a storm capable of doing that bearing down on you. If you live in New Orleans, I suggest you take a little Labor Day holiday—sooner, rather than later, to beat the rush—and get out of town. Gustav is going to come close to you, and there’s no sense messing with a major hurricane capable of pushing a Category 3 storm surge to your doorstep. Don’t test those Category 3 rated—but untested—levees. Conventional pre-Katrina wisdom suggested that the city needed 72 hours to evacuate. With the population about half of the pre-Katrina population, that lead time is about 60 hours. With Gustav likely to bring tropical storm force winds to the city by Monday afternoon, that means that tonight is a good time to start evacuating—Saturday morning at the latest. Voluntary evacuations have already begun, which is a good idea.

Baseball Time in Arlington returns September 2nd...

Ha ha

I hear ya. I’m halfway through “New Moon.” It finally got here yesterday. I suspect I will finish it this weekend. Probably “Eclipse” too. Did you heard that a rough draft of the fifth book was leaked? It’s on the author’s web site for download.

that doesn't sound like a leak,

It sounds like a giveaway.

I’m going to hold out on deciding if I’ll read the fifth book after hearing about it (once the final draft is out). Everything I’ve heard makes it sound like the series is complete after four, and I wouldn’t want to ruin it for myself if the fifth add-on isn’t as good.

No, it was leaked orignally...

…so she gave in and put it on her web site. She’s pretty mad.

I haven’t decided if I’ll read the rough draft or not. I have no problem waiting for the actual book.

The Rangers need to run more when they face Santana

he throws way too many pitches in the dirt to not cause some havoc on the basepaths.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

that's beyond epic fail

that’s a whole new level.

Aikman and Bradshaw?

Please. They are in the same league as Trent Dilfer and Jim McMahon as QBs who were taken to the SB by great Defenses and great Running Games.

Found this interesting as well
“He has three major league pitches,” pitching coach Mark Connor said. "His changeup is top of the scale. His curveball is above average. His fastball hits 88-92 (mph), and he has good control.

That was right after the bmac trade going into the ’07 season. Guess his FB has always been like…

Things more interesting than tihs game:

Chad Johnson legally changing his name to Chad Ocho Cinco so he can have his nickname on his jersey in games.

the preceding post is not nearly as negative or insulting as you think it is
