I really want Feldman to finish strong this year.

Who ever would have thought he would be here making the impact that he is making. I for one was not. I remember how I was ready to write him off. Who would have that that he is our most dependable starter this year?

Good luck Feldman. Here is to you and your future with this team. I hope your arm doesn’t fall off.

He's been throwing a lot of pitches this year

He’s averaging about 102 pitches per start which includes 10 starts going to 110 pitches and another one at 109. Great talent, but I’m guessing Dusty will kill his career.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Because of their positions out in the rock garden in CF, it tends to drift out onto the field.

Suddenlink is showing a black screen where the game should be

Maybe I’ll be treated to the dulcet tones of Rex Hudler and Steve Psychotic and whoever the hell else they run in there.

Or maybe they won’t show the game at all.

IMO

The Angels. But I’ve admittedly only had to deal with the White Sox guys a few times.

The Angel guys are clowns, and wereas the White Sox guys make the game incredibly boring and slow. So it’s really kind of a toss up I guess.

Naw

It is an interesting study in contrasts. I grew up in Fort Worth, where the worry was tornados…but with tornados, you had no warning. They just showed up.

With hurricanes, it is sloooooow. Landfall probably would be sometime on Tuesday, and here we are on Friday, having notices to make sure your gas tank is full.

With Eduoard, the town largely shut down, and it ended up being no big deal. I imagine the same thing will happen with this, if it ends up heading our way…everyone will hunker down, eat Poptarts, and watch the news show the same bits of news over and over and over again.

It isn’t really panic. It is more like your mother telling you to wear clean underwear.

Ah, the tornado drills in the hallway in school

by SarasotaRanger on Aug 29, 2008 9:23 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Hah

Remember eating Pop Tarts when Rita came up through NE Texas and we lost power. Usually never eat ’em, either.

The current models have it making landfall a bit east of the TX/LA border, at which point it’ll apparently cut NNE and move into NE Texas…given Tyler’s well-earned reputation for having perhaps the worst drivers in the state, as well as drivers that panic and seem to top out their speedometers at 30 mph if there’s as so much as a snowflake, it should be a fun experience trekking through this if it retains tropical storm intensity this far inland like Rita did…

So stay the hell out of this neck of the woods next week, pretty much.

Baseball Time in Arlington returns September 2nd...

by jamcadbury on Aug 29, 2008 9:30 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Apparently...

…Wal-Mart stocks a whole crapload of Pop-Tarts in areas where a hurricane is headed, because people buy a bunch of them when hurricanes are coming in.

From Dr. Jeff Masters
Today is the 3rd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s catastrophic hit on the Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama coast. Unfortunately, I think that people living in New Orleans should mark the anniversary of Katrina by getting the heck out of the city. You live at the bottom of a bowl, much of it below sea level. While New Orleans must exist where it is, this is not natural. Nature wants to fill up this bowl with huge quantities of Gulf of Mexico sea water. There is a storm capable of doing that bearing down on you. If you live in New Orleans, I suggest you take a little Labor Day holiday—sooner, rather than later, to beat the rush—and get out of town. Gustav is going to come close to you, and there’s no sense messing with a major hurricane capable of pushing a Category 3 storm surge to your doorstep. Don’t test those Category 3 rated—but untested—levees. Conventional pre-Katrina wisdom suggested that the city needed 72 hours to evacuate. With the population about half of the pre-Katrina population, that lead time is about 60 hours. With Gustav likely to bring tropical storm force winds to the city by Monday afternoon, that means that tonight is a good time to start evacuating—Saturday morning at the latest. Voluntary evacuations have already begun, which is a good idea.

Baseball Time in Arlington returns September 2nd...

thanks Jim..

I’ll most likely leave like at 3 or 4 am Monday morning.. or maybe tomorrow night depending on how close it is…

ummm excuse me madam

I doubt very seriously I would drown in a 10th floor hotel room in the French Quarter which is above sea level IF I chose to stay. You don’t know what you’re talking about. The people who drowned were in the LOW lying areas which were below sea level.
