Second Best Ranger Ever Community Project
Congratulations to Ivan Rodriguez on being named the greatest Texas Ranger ever with 49% of the Lone Star Ball vote.
- Ivan Rodriguez 1991-2002
Now it's time to decide who the second greatest Ranger ever is. I would suggest judge it the same way you would evaluate MLB players over a career, but consider their careers were only as long as the years and games they played with the Texas Rangers. Consider not just best seasons, but total contribution, and perhaps a bit of profile.
If there's anyone not on the ballot who you think should be considered as the third best Ranger, please let me know in the comments.
Write-In Votes
If there's someone not on the list who you want to vote for, please vote "OTHER," then write your vote down in a reply. If you label that reply as "Write In" it will be much easier for me to find. Thanks!
P.S. Hopefully this isn't stepping on anyone's toes.

Voted Rafael
It was Juan or Raffy, they’re sort of equal in my mind. I think they were both roided up. The tiebreaker to me is that I can’t forgive Juan for loafing it in the field. It seems like a million times I saw him casually jog up to catch a hit on one hop. Rafael was a good first baseman before his knees got all jacked up. Watching Manny these days, Juan was really before his time. Juando being Juando.

Also voted Raffy
Even if he was great because of steroids, he was still great.
My admiration for him has been trashed to hell, but that’s not what I’m voting based on.

I'll go Juan
just because of the way he carried the Rangers in the 96 Playoffs. Literally, one of the best hitting displays I’ve ever seen.

Igor...
Pudge #1 and Igor #2. They are the main reasons I stayed a Rangers fan after Canseco left when I was a kid. Both put up great #’s while in Arlington.
If A-Rod played here a little longer he would have been #1. As it is I still think he is 3rd.

3rd over Ryan and Young?
I mean what’s your logic there?

Look up his stats...
for the 3 years he was here. That’s my logic.

If you JUST consider on-field accomplishments. . .
. . . I definitely think he has the better argument for third than Ryan does.

I voted Palmeiro
and it was he or Juan because they put up the largest numbers over a longer period, Pudge is in there as well, tough to pick the rangers all time top 3, but those would be mine, pick the order, Ryan was the greatest to ever play for the Rangers, but only a few years, so can’t put in there. Arod is like Ryan, great but not here long enough

Juan, Palmeiro, then probably ARod
And Ruben Sierra was supposed to be the next Roberto Clemente but wasn’t. That still makes me sad.

Good Question
He’s not even the Ranger’s greatest all-time pitcher. Kenny Rogers is. Yep, I did just type that.
Pudge, clear and obvious #1. Juando clear and obvious #2. imo.

I planned on waiting for Adam's top 50 list.
I figure I can know who the greatest rangers are when I am 97.
