OT - Steve Smith
So listening to Brian Esteridge on the way home today, he made a pretty compelling argument for the Cowboys to test the waters on trading for Steve Smith. Everyone knows what kind of player this guy is, and a combination of SS and T.O. would be completely unstoppable come Sundays.
Word out of Carolina is that they are growing tired of his act and this isn't the first time he's caused a distraction to the team (this latest incident was obviously on a much larger scale).
What would it take to get Smith to Dallas? Obviously talks start with a first-round pick, but there seem to be a decent number of guys here that could get far more substantial playing time for a team that isn't as loaded. I, for one, think that if Smith came to Dallas it is a GUARANTEED Super Bowl berth, barring injury.

Probably
to begin a first round pick or a combination of something like a 2nd and 4th. Then, you would probably have to throw in some of your players, maybe a CB with the amount of people they have there, and someone like Bobby Carpenter or Kevin Burnett, who seem undersized to play in the 3-4 and would benefit more in Carolina’s 4-3.

I don't see it happening...
The Panthers know that Steve Smith is their only weapon (depending on Jonathan Stewart) on offense.
Without him their offense is very underwhelming…..

Drops too many passes
Josh Hamilton is better than you.

Haha...
I assume you’re a Cowboys fan. If so that is ironic seeing as though TO drops 3x as many passes as Smith does.
If Smith could be had Cowboy fans should be drooling at the chance to get that guy. TO/Smith would be huge.

Smith drops more.
But, I’d still have him in Dallas.
Josh Hamilton is better than you.

Wrong
TO – 17
Smith – 10

Plaschke: Scioscia, the former Dodgers catcher, is the model manager who has created an atmosphere of winning.
Junior:It's that simple. Mike Scioscia brings a Glade Plug-In labeled "Winning™" into the clubhouse and everyone who breathes it in gains 15 points in average.

This argument is always funny to me..
...could it be that certain receivers drop more passes because they are thrown too much more? If you follow some of the more advanced stats for football, you’ll see that if you look at target numbers and percent of targets caught that a lot of the guys who catch a large percentage of their throws don’t get thrown to as often as the big boys.

Go For It
I am all for it. If the Cowboys can keep him, T.O., Pac-Man, Tank, and more under control then they have an excellent shot to win it all and if they lose control than they may lose in the first round of the playoffs so what would be different than the previous years anyway

Smith is amazing
And still quite young. I can’t see Carolina giving up on him, he’s too integral to their offense. If we did want him, It’d take two firsts.

Go For It
Smith will cost us a # 1 pick but our pick will be horrible any ways but imagine Smith, TO and Witten together with Barber in the backfield. This will open up the field. I still doubt it will happen but Roy Williams (Lions) is a FA next year and all indications are that he wants to be here.
