Minor league update
Sorry to break up a perfectly good Rangers game-day thread, but Martin Perez is pitching for the Spokane Indians tonight and the Tri-City radio guy said that the 17-year-old lefty just unleashed a 94 MPH fastball to strike out a DustDevil. I have noted in previous games that Perez uses a fastball/curveball combo to great effect, but I had no idea that he had that kind of pace on his fastball. Can anyone verify that the young lefty throws that hard?

“Perez throws a heavy fastball that sits in the 88-91 MPH range with sinking action. His secondary stuff is quite advanced for what would be a high school junior.”

Had a decent at bat and lined out to center. The high pitch was very close to the strike zone and the low one would be tough for any of our hitters to lay off of.

I live in Washington and get Extra Innings.
But, for some reason, YES is the only feed I get today. That said, they’ve been very enjoyable.
No Michael Kay, and if you didn’t know it you’d think they were Rangers homers if anything.
