Joba & His MRI On Their Way To Birmingham
For those non-medheads out there in the audience, when a pitcher takes his MRI results to Birmingham, Alabama, it's to go see Dr. James Andrews. Per ESPN:
ARLINGTON, Texas -- New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain will be examined by noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday after undergoing an MRI on his ailing right shoulder.
Chamberlain returned to New York for tests on his shoulder Tuesday. The team said before its game against the Texas Rangers that it would not reveal the results of the MRI exam until Chamberlain is seen by Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.
While I hate the Yankees, I hope Joba's shoulder isn't cooked. He's a fun guy to watch pitch...and to watch duck decapitation throws from Pudge.

Pudge Came Pretty Close
If Chamberlain had done just about anything else except drop and roll, that ball would have skulled him.

i feel bad for joba
if this ends up being serious. but if it does i hope it can somehow get pinned on hank’s insistence that he be converted to a starter post haste. i really dont like that guy.

Feliz
This is why I hope the Raners don’t rush Feliz.

You think this is the result of "rushing"?
How so?

innings
They should have kept him in the minors last year and let him biuld up some innings. He threw alot of breaking balls last night. That could have led to his shoulder stiffness.

Injury risk
He went lower than he should have in the draft because he had already been hurt when at nebraska (thought it was TJ but I guess it was tendinitis)

Joba Rules
if anything, it shows that limiting a pitcher’s work won’t prevent injuries. The Yankees treated this guy with kid gloves which, ironically, probably made him more susceptible to injury.

There were concerns
about his injury potential before he was drafted.

I think the violence in his delivery was the real culprit
I don’t think it had anything at all to do with the manner in which he was used.
His arm just moves so fast and with so much torque it was going to be impossible for him to have Greg Maddux-like health, imo.
But God damn he’s good when he’s healthy.
Here’s hoping he’s fine and dandy like sour candy.

It's the way he's built too
He’s a big boy. That combined with his delivery had people concerned. This is why he fell to the Yankees in the draft. He was considered a top-5 talent coming out, if I remember.

He had been injured a few times while at Nebraska
That was the biggest concern. His weight wasn’t really a huge deal, iirc. Though people did think that with his delivery he might be better suited to closing so that caused him to slip a bit.

how?
by moving him from the bullpen to the rotation…IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON?
cashman is too good of a GM for this to happen
i hope he ends up somewhere where he can be allowed to actually run a team.
and i hope hank falls and breaks his neck.

I had a buddy who got operated on by Andrews
said the facility there is incredible.
I echo your sentiment about Joba. I loathe the Yanks, but Joba is a special player and watching him pitch is just plain fun. Off the top of my head Joba, Lincecum and Volquez are my top three favorite guys to watch throw.

especially when we can beat him up
like we have.

where is LSJ’s post about how glad he is that Joba is hurt?

so now i'm reading
it was due to his pregame yoga routine. stretching prior to pitching has been shown to increase injuries AND reduce velocity. someday baseball will take notice of these things.
