First time we’ve won the season series against the Yankes since 2003 or something.
We need to hire Chuck Norris to kick the ass of any Ranger fan caught booing one of our young pitchers at the RBiA.

he was outstanding in every way
i bet a lot of it is attributed to hawkins. these past 4 games we’ve had terrific starting pitching with 3 of those being by first-time big league starters.
Since hawkins has been the pitching coach our starter’s ERA is 3.60
Feliz and Hurley. The 1-2 punch of the future
Okay...
We got a couple of crap calls this game, but I’d say the Yanks got a couple too for once. Evens out tonight, but we’re still behind overall in the series because of last night. Umpiring has been god awful this series especially.

that really has to be the answer
at this point.
he’s said there has been at least a minor injury, so getting him on the DL won’t take a magic trick or anything…
He needs some time to rest, work on some things personally, work on some mechanics, and probably come back as a set-up man, with some closer by committee behind him.

I thought he was one of the players they had to add to the ML roster in spring training. I could be wrong, it would make sense that he has one left, since he hasn’t gone up and down very much.

Feliz and Hurley. The 1-2 punch of the future
When Wash went out to get him, CJ flipped him the ball w/attitude. Wash grabbed his arm and ...
kept him from leaving the mound, gave him back the ball, and told him to hand the ball to me, please. Which CJ did.

Makes me wonder
if the stuff Grant wrote about CJ and the team a while back might have some truth to it…

promptly dropped CJ, huh?
He has to be relegated to a lesser role at this point. They either need to commit to him as a set-up pitcher, in which with less pressure and more time to improve himself… he could be just as good as Wright (take that for what its worth).... OR they really need to send him to AZ Fall League and see if he can stretch out.

Yeah
I’d really like to know too, I didn’t see a lot of his inning.
Tom Grieve is my hero.
you didnt have to see any of it
all you have to know is that he gave up a grand salami to Richie Sexson. that in itself is worthy of banishment to the DL.
Sexson
RW shouldn’t have let CJ pitch to him.
"An effortless 98" - Scott Gardner after Neftali Feliz's first AA pitch
Yup
Sexson is good at two things:
1) Being a mammoth douche. I mean, I can’t stress how big of a douche that man is. Huge freaking douche. No redeeming qualities at all.
2) Hitting LHP’ing. Even this season where he was so bad he got freaking waived e’s still hitting .338/.420/.568/.988 versus lefties. That’s, um, “good”. You have a lefty out there who’s struggling in every aspect of the game and who is falling apart in front of your eyes, and you leave him out there to face a lefty crusher like Douchey McSexson? That’s cold. Ice cold.

I doubt anything happens to him ...
... he was angry, it happened in the heat of the moment, and Wash has been around long enough to know that. Now, if he flipped the ball the second time or something, then maybe he might be in trouble. But for that? I would be very surprised if anything happened to him.
That's a little bigger deal
than you think. That is a huge slap in the face to the manager. If he were a 15 y/o sophomore in high school it would be bad, but not such a big deal. A 3-4 year veteran in the big leagues should get reamed in the room for that kind of crap.

I mean, in another thread, they were saying to DFA him … are you f!#cking kidding me? Do people realize a DFA means he is no longer on the team, and we wouldn’t get much for him in a trade? This type of kneejerking is exactly what would keep Rangers pitching from ever getting better.

he acted like he had a chip on his shoulder and like he was put off by having to explain why he’s struggling.
in addition, i find it odd that this is the first time all season we’ve heard about CJ and bone spurs. he said in the interview that theyve known that he’s had them for a while and theyve been trying to treat it, but that the inevitability is surgery. so it seems odd that this is finally being brought up.

What is up with the music ....
... during interviews? Can’t they turn that stuff down or off while someone is speaking? That happened yesterday, too. Don’t know if that is normal, cus I usually get the game on the alternate channel, not on FSN, so they cut it off before the postgame stuff.
It's pretty normal...
if they turned the music off while interviews were going on, they wouldn’t turn the music on at all until after the last person left the clubhouse generally.

Pathetic...
How does FSN not even have a picture of Tommy Hunter to use on the pitching matchup screen for tomorrow.

I was at the game
great atmosphere. A few random thoughts:
I feel sorry for Warner Madrigal, he is never used and seems to be left out of all future closer discussions. The Rangers are a good baseball team.

In case you haven’t heard, C.J. Wilson is indeed going on the DL (as I predicted in the eighth inning). He has bone spurs. Rangers doctors told him he could pitch with the spurs and was in no risk of doing further damage to the elbow or any of the ligaments. He is going to have a second opinion in Los Angeles.

The rest...
As for the rest of the night, the Rangers won 8-6. It should have been a very impressive win, but Wilson’s flipping of the ball to Ron Washington left a sour taste in the mouths of a lot of players and management. This team has shown the greatest level of togetherness of any Rangers club I’ve been around; healthy or not, it simply can’t afford to have somebody pout on the mound the way Wilson did tonight.

Benoit...
