With Murphy Gone 2 to 4 Weeks
The Rangers Chances at the playoffs are now pretty much Zero, especially since Cruz is on the DL no one of quality to replace Murph, never seen a team have so many injuries to so many key players in less than one season, they are bringing up Jason Ellison, could they find a player with worse numbers, in 100 games at AAA he is batting .234 with 1 HR, 1 Double and 2 RBI he had short stints with SF, Seattle and The Reds, was at Spring Training with the Rangers.

LMAO
pretty much zero cause we lose one game and david murphy is out? That’s silly our chances aren’t as high as they were last night but to say they’re zero after just one less is silly and yes by silly I mean stupid.
How's Dshep's ass taste?

Uhh
Link? It would make the most sense to bring up JMJ. Last I checked we had a 4% shot of the playoffs ;)

Hmm,
DMN doesn’t say anything about Ellison, however.

I think they do that for the same reason
that he is on the OKC roster: hes’s a true center fielder. I’m not saying its right but I think the manager must want a true cf as a primary guy to start in okc so that he can be a backup in the bigs should we need em. However, I don’t think we need a CF here right now considering we have 3 guys who can play the spot. So Jr makes sense to me; I guess they don’t want to have to add him to the 40 yet.

TRFAN puff peice
I think TRFAN was engaging in a little speculatin’ here. I don’t think Ellison gets called up as Catt will be th 4th oufielder. Hopefully, with 3 weeks of playing time to showcase the fact that he is still breathing and can still hit, someone will want to pick up part of his contract….

after much searching, I found what hes probably referring to
check dmn, TR sullivan, newberg.. but its the rangers official site that mentions him.
“The Rangers haven’t announced a replacement but are leaning toward calling up Jason Ellison from Triple-A Oklahoma. Brandon Boggs would likely get first opportunity to replace Murphy in the lineup.”

I think that he would only be a def. replacement or pr with catt the 4th of when needed. So hopefully we won’t be seeing him much unless Wash still has his spring training era man-crush on him.

I figured it would be Ellison
Ron had a huge crush on him in the Spring, I say we sign Bonds, haha, Mayberry wouldnt make sense, with him not being on the 40man, we dont have room to waste a spot on him right now, the only guy I thought had a chance besides Ellison was Borbon and thats purely because he is already on the 40 man.

the 40
I believe the 40-man roster is at 39 right now. Mayberry needs to be added this winter anyway, correct? I think now is a great time to call him up, since there’s so many young guys contributing all at once. He won’t be so alone in his new-ness to the bigs. Maybe he’ll surprise us.
If he doesn’t need to go on the 40 this winter, then nevermind.

He'd be a great righty platoon partner with Cat
It’d ease him into the lineup gradually, and it’d give us an excuse to play Cat as a showcase to try to get someone to take his contract.

its not like ellison is going to play
if they didnt want to give JMJ much playing time why bring him up? Its not like hes Cruz who has nothing to prove in AAA (but is obviously injured). Ellison is just a guy to sit on the bench in case of injury until they decide what to do. Surely Boggs will start.

I feel bad for Nellie this is the chance he’s needed all year and now that it’s here he’s out too. By the way, what kind of time table is Cruz looking at ‘til he can come back?

Nail hit on head.
If they grab Ellison, it will be because they won’t have to worry too much about losing him when they bump him off the 40 to give Cruz his [final?] shot.

Sorry hit post too early
I was going to add that Ellison will probably see a good amount of playing time which is why Borbon wasn’t called up. I think we should have brought up JMJ personally. But with Bradley hurt and not able to play the field we now are down to Hamilton, Byrd, Boggs and Cat if needed in the OF. You have to bring up a guy who you have some confidence can play

GET WELL SOON MURPH!!!
your magictones are waiting.
some1 had to at least give the guy best wishes, you guys seem like a family arguing over the estate of a dead relative, “i want JMJ, no i want Ellison, sorry for cruz.”
cant any1 just hope he gets back as soon as possible and when he does can keep up what he has shown this season? i just hope he’s doin good and it isnt a big setback. he was playing well.

Rangers
Currently the 40 man roster sits at 40. McCarthy will have to have a spot in a few days when his rehab assignment is up and he is optioned to the minors. Hank could go to the 60 if he is determined to be out for awhile. Or CJ if he needs season ending surgery. So those two players if placed on the 60 day will open up one spot on the roster. Now would be a perfect time to bring up JMJ. He has to be added to the 40 man this winter and would be a logical choice to come up in September when rosters expand anyway. With Murphy being out approximately 3 weeks that would be basically the end of the month. Bring JMJ up now and let him platoon and once rosters expand on September 1st Murphy can come back and JMJ can stay. He won’t burn an option and will only have about 50 days of service time so his arbitration clock won’t be affected too much.

If you want a look at Cruz
there’s no use bringing up JMJ, because you’re just going to send him right back down in two weeks anyway.
Seems that Borbon would be the right call to me … then you don’t have to mess with the 40 at all—at least until Cruz is ready to come back.

Cruz
Is probably a couple weeks away. What will happen is Ellison will be DFAd and Cruz will take his spot. The 40 isn’t that big an issue right now since we have so many guys we can place on the 60 day DL. You don’t however bring up JMJ if the plan is to send him down in a couple weeks because that would potentially burn an option and that would be foolish at this time of the year
