The current bullpen
Guardado
Benoit
Wright
Rupe
Madrigal
Nippert
Francisco
You could put Francisco in, but I suspect he’ll pitch the 9th.
Madrigal isn’t available.
I don’t think you’d want to use any of the rest.

Because he stayed on first base
It was a force play, but once the throw went to first base, Betemit had the right to stay on first base. Since he never left first base, he was safe.
If Davis had stepped off the bag and caught the ball, then tagged Betemit, then touched 1st, there’d be a DP.

Aikman and Bradshaw?

That April Sunday game in Boston

Tonight was bad but it wasn’t epic.

What cost him
was the Rangers” lack of being able to score. If Feldman had pitched a nine inning no-hitter, the game would still be tied.

To quote Jamey Newberg
’”THE NEWBERG REPORT
While they didn’t really factor into why Texas lost tonight, or why New York won, who had the worse four-game series:
Bob Davidson, Andy Fletcher, Alfonso Marquez, & Rob Drake?
Or Alex Rodriguez, who went 0 for 14 in the series and created 18 outs?
Disappointing loss, and a shame that Texas had to settle for a split after the way the first two games went.”

Just got back from the game
SO GLAD this series is OVER and the Yankee fans are leaving.
I was curious but it doesn’t seem to have been mentioned here – late in the game it looked like a whole group of Yankee fans got escorted out of the ballpark. We noticed there were like three entire sections over by third standing up and yelling, and then security showed up and escorted em out. I was hoping it got on the broadcast because we were too far to see what happened.

I was wondering that too.
Overall, though, that game was one big suckfest. Feldman impressed the hell out of me…I really hate the word “gritty”, but that was a pretty gritty performance. Some awful baserunning decisions, and some even awfuler (just go with it) fielding.
I also had an impromptu discussion/argument with the dumbest Yankees fan I’ve ever encountered. I was discussing with my mom (albeit out loud) that I would never understand how Derek Jeter can be considered a “great” player.
This large bald man behind me told me, and I quote, “Hey! Derek Jeter is a first-ballot Hall of Famer!”
I tried to make the argument that Jeter is a good player who gets a lot more credit than he deserves, especially defensively, because he plays in New York.
The large bald man was having none of it, pointing out the fact that he was the “leader of some of the great teams in history”.
I tried to make the argument that Derek Jeter should never have won a single Gold Glove because he is, by every metric, a godawful defensive shortstop.
The large bald man told me that I need to “watch him and tell me he’s not a great player.”
And I did. I also told him that Jeter is on the good end of one of the greatest double standard of all time: Jeter could go 0-for-his next 35 and would get cheered, and Alex Rodriguez (arguably the greatest player of this generation) could go 12-for-his next 20, and the Yankees fans would boo him because he got out eight times.
The large bald man asked me how many World Series that Michael Young has won.
I informed him that Michael Young has never even been to the playoffs, but that Derek Jeter has never had five consecutive 200-hit seasons. Then I told him that it was neither here or there, the original point being that Jeter is simply beloved because he is Derek Jeter, he plays in New York, he has a good face and he smiles a lot, and that he might be the single most overrated player of this generation.
The large bald man asked me how many World Series that the Rangers had won.
This was the end of my conversation with him.
On the way out, Yankees fans were taunting me and my mom. I politely told them that both of our teams would be in the same place come September:
Sitting at home, watching the playoffs.
Also, +1 to LonestarJon for the sad Flair. Excellent.

Dude, you are fucking high!! I’m a long time Rangers fan, but even I understand the greatness of Derek Jeter. Players aren’t judged only on “metrics”.
People who criticize or hate Jeter hate baseball. Period.
