No Giles for Boston

ESPN is reporting that Brian Giles is not going to waive his no-trade clause to accept a deal to Boston.

Supposedly, Boston really wanted Giles, despite having J.D. Drew and Jason Bay for the outfield corners and David Ortiz at DH, but Giles isn't going to go.

So, much ado about nothing...

Waiver wire

its always nothing. Every year this happens, and every year people get confused when some big named player is claimed and then isn’t actually moved. First we have a panic post about how Giles got claimed, so obviously the Rangers did something stupid – probably Nolan’s fault. Then the Red Sox want him, but can’t convince him to waive his no-trade. All this over an over-rated player making a lot of money. Yawn.

Giles

Swore I read that he had a limited no-trade and Boston wasn’t included on his list.

Doesn't he have full no trade?

10/5 guy, no?

Maybe he has the 10 but not the 5?

He’s been with the Padres for 4 + seasons, not sure how they count that.

Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.

Yah, I guess you're right

He’s been there 4 full seasons, plus the end of ‘03 and the start of ‘08.

His time in ‘03 and ‘08 would seem to add together to make a full year, but who knows how they tabumalate such things.

I don't think my almost comical whiteness

has anything to do with how much that sucked.

Terrible, terrible music.

Awful.

Lazy lethargic and uninspired rhyming over a cheap-sounding beat with some shitty faux R&B influenced shit in there for bad measure.

Surely you can do better than that.

God that sucked.

ugh...

...that type of quality production is missing in hip-hop these days, you moron.

the guy took an old Isley Brothers song, cut it up, and created a “bubbly” effect… definitely a more genuine sound than other beats… it’s too bad you’ve been conditioned into believing otherwise.

cheap-sounding beat? faux R&B? huh?

Whoah, easy there, champ

Didn’t know he was your home-slice-of-bread.

Didn’t mean to offend.

Admittedly it may have sounded a little shittier being filtered through youtube, but that sounded very dime-store to me. The kind of shit you hear on every other radio station all the time. But then I really hate slow, R&B-type hip-hop, so I readily admit a bias.

That having been said… I’m not a moron, and the “conditioned to believe” argument is as cheap and it is specious. It’s what idiot hipsters always fall back when they don’t have a real argument to posit. You ca do better than that.

Really? Wow. I’d go, but only if he promised that every other song would be the famous one. Cause I don’t want to hear the other shit. I could listen to that song 15 times in one night and be a happy freaking man.

BoSox Still Looking For a Bench Bat

The Boston Globe added their two cents on Giles invoking his no-trade clause. However, the Globe did have this to say:

The Red Sox are still searching for outfield protection and may not be through scouring the waiver wire for another player who has cleared waivers who might protect them off the bench.

I wonder if they are interested in Cat?

no one's interested in cat.
