Haha...

just looked at the poll on the team site about which minor leaguer intrigues fans the most.

No shock that Neftali is at the top or even that Andrus is 2nd. Howeber JMJ 3rd at 15% slightly ahead of Dutch at 14% made me chuckle.

So, anybody hear from Adam?

We’re expecting to lose power sometime tomorrow in Tyler. I’m also going to be going to work in a strong tropical storm/low-grade hurricane, but let’s not start on that.

by Joey Matschulat on Sep 12, 2008 8:37 PM CDT   0 recs

I'm here

Still have power, although we expect to lose it in the next couple of hours, and expect it will be out for 24-36 hours.

Thanks

Should just be high wind and a lot of rain tonight, but nothing that, where I live, should be that dangerous. Probably lose power for a while, and there’s a chance of some windows breaking because of wind blowing debris, but there shouldn’t be anything worse than that.

you’ve got your generator ready to fire up tomorrow morning so you can post your Saturday AM thoughts. :)

Were you living in the Meyerland area when Trop Storm Allison hit? Seem to recall Meyerland got a whole heckuvalot of flooding

by Hypo-Luxa on Sep 12, 2008 9:22 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I was living in the Med Center...

…which was swamped with flooding. My apartment complex flooded, totalling my car, and everyone on the first floor had to move out.

My house I live in now didn’t flood in Allison, so we should be fine here.

yeah I had some friends in that area that lost their cars and furniture…

Lineup is virtually the same as last night

Arias 2B
Young SS
Hamilton CF
Byrd LF
Cruz RF
Blalock 1B
Laird C
Davis 3B
Tea DH

One of the things that’s been bugging me though, is why not use the DH spot to get Hamilton off the field for a game or two and get Boggs some playing time while Bradley is out? Laird has started the last three games in a row now.

"The question of how we came to be is a philosophical one." - 4HIM

by Chase Irwin on Sep 12, 2008 9:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well

If the manager is juggling the rotation to accommodate a pitcher — particularly to accommodate a pitcher who has been less than reliable this year, at that pitcher’s request — isn’t it reasonable to ask why that’s being done?

by Adam J. Morris on Sep 12, 2008 9:39 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

No. It's not.

Padilla’s case is obviously a different circumstance.

"The question of how we came to be is a philosophical one." - 4HIM

He's got the best arm in the rotation

and he’s probably going to be shopped in the offseason.

"The question of how we came to be is a philosophical one." - 4HIM

by Chase Irwin on Sep 12, 2008 9:44 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Okay

I’m not sure what that has to do with him wanting to pitch on Sunday rather than Monday, or with the organization going along with it.

by Adam J. Morris on Sep 12, 2008 9:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Warsh's stance

is probably another veteran over a rookie kinda situation….just like his reasoning for hitting Byrd/Laird/Cruz/Murphy higher than Davis. And in Padilla’s case I support Wash’s decision MUCH more than his Davis shenanigans

What's the rumpus?

by Hypo-Luxa on Sep 12, 2008 9:48 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My guess

Wash seems to be implying that, if Padilla doesn’t get to pitch on the day he wants to pitch, his neck my start hurting again.

by Adam J. Morris on Sep 12, 2008 9:50 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

ya think?

So you’re thinking Warsh subscribes to EG’s theory of wussing out against tougher competition? Or just that the way the injuries have gone thus far a recurrence could happen at any moment?

What's the rumpus?

by Hypo-Luxa on Sep 12, 2008 9:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Just guessing...

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Wash thought Padilla is something of an unreliable headcase, and that if they don’t let him pitch when he wants to pitch, they don’t know if he will pitch, or how well he’ll pitch, when they want him to.

by Adam J. Morris on Sep 12, 2008 9:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

What difference does it make

Do you think Padilla is bullshitting him?
