Just a great game...

seeing his velocity and the way he pitched is very encouraging.

Well, the Oakland staduim gun is inflated

He wasn’t pitching at 94 the whole game. But that was an exquisite start.

Gameday still shows

93 and 92. That’s still awesome even though it isn’t 94.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Gameday radar gun

I was reading Keith Law (I think it was him) and he was saying the pitch fx (is that what it is called?) guns are usually off by a few mph. I couldn’t believe that, since you would imagine that someone qualified would be running the gun. Regardless, Harrison was awesome.

by uthornfan on Sep 13, 2008 12:16 AM CDT up reply actions

Found it

Ryan (Boston): Last night the NESN/Fenway gun had Lester hitting 97 in the first inning. I’ve always assumed that this reading was ticked up about 2 or 3 MPH. From what you know, is the Fenway gun accurate?

SportsNation Keith Law: It’s the pitch F/X gun, and it is usually 1-3 mph ahead of the scouts’ guns in the stands. If it said 97 on Lester repeatedly (as opposed to one fluke reading), he was probably hitting 95-96. I saw him hit 95 in AA in ’05.

F/X

Just to reply to myself again, what exactly is the F/X gun? I always figured it is the gameday gun, but I am not sure.

by uthornfan on Sep 13, 2008 12:18 AM CDT up reply actions

that's strange

since the gun on TV usually inflates pitches by a mph or 2 where the Gameday one shows them a bit slower.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Atta Boy

AA – No hitter
MLB – Complete game shutout

It might have been a no-hitter if TT was catching….

Love me some matt harrison.

While he blows up every few starts, it seems like hes had the most legitimately good starts of anyone in the past couple months as well.

Again, really want him in 2009’s rotation unless he flat out loses it in ST.

And one more time.. in really tiny fashion since i already used it 3 times =p

I love the gif

but I’d suggest Milton in the passenger’s seat just for detail purposes.

Ahahahahhahaha!!!!

That’s the best thing that has ever been posted on this site. You win. Forever.

Aikman and Bradshaw?

Please. They are in the same league as Trent Dilfer and Jim McMahon as QBs who were taken to the SB by great Defenses and great Running Games.

Doesn't he have an extra day of rest between now and his next start?

No

he has an extra day between his next start with Feldman, Padilla, McCarthy, Millwood, and Nippert ahead of him.

Has it ever been mentioned on this blog ...

that Chris Davis is a beast of Godzilla-like proportions? Cause, he kinda is.

well he is the co-owner of the beasticon mantle

that surely assumes some monster level proportions.

I would have never thought this a month ago

but Matt Harrison has a legitimate shot to win 10 games this year for the Rangers. As of now, I would definitely rank him as a near lock for at least the #5 spot next year, and maybe even the 4.

wins don't mean much

but it is definitely strange to see. The Rangers have put up the runs for him in a few games where he didn’t really deserve a win and they managed to not blow enough of his games (like they are so good at doing).

It happened. Congrats, Matt. That was awesome.
