Meh...

The real news today is me going to see Burn After Reading tonight.

Anyone seen it yet?

I’m pretty excited.

A couple friends say it.

One didn’t like it, one is meh. These aren’t people whose movie opinions I really respect, though.

I want to see it badly.

Seeing it tonight myself

Can’t wait!

Also looking forward to the movie Choke with Sam Rockwell (one of my favorite actors)

What's the rumpus?

by Hypo-Luxa on Sep 14, 2008 3:04 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yah on Choke

Rockwell is pretty awesome. The fact that he’s never really taken off is further proof that in Hollywood it’s better to be pretty than to be good, cause he’s a very good actor but I think a big part of him never really taking off is that not one single woman in the world has ever gne to see movie cause “That one handsome guy is in it”. But really I’m excited cause the book was very good. I’m wondering how they’ll handle the adaptation, cause there’s no way they can use the same climax from the book in a movie, can they? I don’t want to give too much away for those who haven’t read it, but if you’ve read it you know what I’m talking about.

Did you see it?

It was a bit darker and far less whimsical than I was expecting, but it was still pretty good. Some really good moments but I thought the whole was less than the sum of its parts. My expectations were probably too high. It struck me as the sort of movie that’ll get better with repeated viewings so I’ll probably give it another chance and watch it again on DVD.

Agree with most of that

But to me, the CIA briefings were worth the price of admission. Not a whole lot of “ha-ha” funny moments, but when they came they were huge. I thought the crafting of the story was great, and naturally the performances were excellent. One of those movies that is basically just building for the ending. Most of the people in the theater were saying “huh?” but I was laughing all the way to the car.

I get Sunday Ticket, so I watch what I choose.

But up here we’ve got Colts @ Vikings, Patriots @ Jets and, obviously, 49ers @ Seahawks.

Man. . . after looking at that lineup, thank god for DirecTV.

I think NE / NYJ will be interesting

and I’m also curious to see how Cutler handles San Diego’s defense.

I'm less interested in northeast teams.

I’ve just grown to hate them so much. And the Patriots without Brady interest me even less.

Although, looking at the morning slate, I guess there really isn’t much of interest. I’ll watch the Giants and Redskins just to hope they lose.

well the argument for minn pass defense

is that you cant run on them so they are passed on more than others out of necessity.
but i still think its at best an ok pass defense.

im not saying he sucks or anything though, he looks very sharp. a solid nfl QB. just not sure on more than that yet. maybe.

He might???

It possible. He still really hasn’t proven much of anything.

I was very much on board with trading Favre, although I was disappointed in both parties about the entire situation.

I, and many others who have been following all this for years, knew he had a good head. He shouldn’t make a lot of crazy/bad plays.

We also knew he had plus speed for a QB.

The couple things I didn’t really expect was his playmaking ability. He’s looked very good there, making something out of nothing – although he does have an outstanding WR corps.

He’s also shown a stronger arm and a more accurate deep arm than I expected.

One big question mark on him is can he stay healthy. The guy got hurt backing up a guy who never got hurt.

Dallas and Pittsburgh have good O-lines

but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pass rush as bad as Cleveland’s.

Also, pretty tough to open against these two at home, when you’re battling injuries to start the year and are a major home team. After the Steelers finish them off, they are going to be 0-2 with only six more home games. I have to think the playoffs will be tough now, although SD’s start may help.

I really disagree on Pittsburgh having a good o-line.

I watch every game and they looked pretty awful (though not healthy) last year, and the game charting reinforces that.

I think they’re can be okay if Marvel Smith and co. are completely healthy, but I don’t think they’re too good.

But yeah, Cleveland’s rush is bad. They didn’t even try for much of the game agianst Dallas.

FWIW: Football Outsiders projected them to be the worst team in the division. They’re right more often than I am, so if they win 6 or 7 games and miss the playoffs, I probably shouldn’t be surprised at all.

by philkid3 on Sep 14, 2008 11:45 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

May be pretty hard

to be worse than Cincy, but yeah they look like a team that could easily only win 6-7.

As far as Pittsburgh’s line, I probably overrated their effort in handling a Houston line with some really nice players.

Offense doesn't doubt me, but my first and primemost thing is defense and punt return and kickoff return

by Brett Perryman on Sep 15, 2008 1:25 AM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Houston Game

They did look much better in that game than I expected they could. I’ve watched the Shortcut of that game closely to try and get an idea of what was going on, and I can’t. Maybe the line really is good and last year’s tragedy was a fluke, we’ll have to see.

Yeah, I can’t imagine the Browns being worse than the Bengals. The Bengals look worse than I could have imagined.

Looking for breakout OC's

Hmm, I read today Todd Haley, ex Cowboys staff, is now OC in Arizona. I dunno if him or Whisenhunt is playcalling, but thats working out nice. Interesting, I used to want Haley for Cowboys OC.

We should keep an eye on Zorn in Washington too..just because he’s new and an unknown.
