Boys Will Be Boys - Rundown of the 90's Cowboys Antics
Must read. Jeff Pearlman wrote a book about the 90's cowboys and Kissing Suzy Kolber runs down the highlights.
So much more respect for that team.

anyone ever read that book by Skip Bayless about the Cowboys?
I think it was named “Hell-bent.” Normally, I dont like reading anything by Bayless but I found it an interesting read.

Skip Bayless is a talentless hack
watch him on ESPN at any given time to see what i mean, when he was here in Texas all he could do is bash everything we care for, and he still does bash the cowboys, i really do dislike this bum with a passion.

He was an assistant football coach (Defensive line)
at Episcopal School of Dallas a couple of years ago. I don’t think he’s doing that anymore.

It was about 3-4 years ago
not sure how long he coached, but friends of mine played for him. Just remember hearing how he’s a huge asshole. Used my imagination from there.

At Trees Loungue in the mid 90s
Was dating a girl from TCU, she ran into a few friends who were with Mr. Haley (no idea why).
He bought me drinks for a few hours in the balcony while we watched the girls dance. He was really cool, but wouldn’t talk much Cowboys-specific stuff.
Seemed normal to me, other than the horndog part, which isn’t really that abnormal…

Most of the juicy stuff there was already known
Haley’s antics, scissors-gate, all the Switzer stuff, Emmitt being a jerk, Jimmy and Jerry cheating on their wives, most everything Irvin has done (though there are probably so many stories that you could never compile them all). Some of those anecdotes I haven’t heard, but they’re exactly like other ones that are out there (like the Smith/Holmes thing and Irvin ripping off the cherity). I’d be surprised by something interesting about Aikman’s or Young’s lives, good or bad, because I’ve never heard much of anything. There might be some things that Jerry’s done, but I don’t see that ever getting out, at least until he’s passed. There are probably some dead bodies in DeBartalo’s closet that would be interesting, while we’re crossing over to the 49ers.

I read the book
It’s a good read for anyone not all that familiar with the rise and fall of the 90’s Cowboys. If you already know the story pretty well, there’s nothing too earth-shattering, but it’s still good nostalgia.
I thought it painted Jimmy in a pretty bad light a lot of the time and somewhat seemed to take Jerry’s side in the Jimmy/Jerry feud. Moreso than most things you read anyway. Switzer comes off smelling like a rose comparitively. He’s one of the more likable characters in the book. And the book really rails on Dale Hansen and Skip Bayless, which is great, because they both deserve it.
As far as the players it’s the same stuff you always hear – Emmitt was essentially a good guy who just got a massive ego as time went on. Aikman the misunderstood golden boy. Irvin was a sorry SOB, but you couldn’t have a better teammate. Deion’s attitude was a huge factor in bringing the down, etc.
I thought the more interesting parts were on the lesser known players like Bill Bates, Kenny Gant, Clayton Holmes, and Everett McIver.
