People seem to have really strong feelings about the newsletter this week.

Don't you know it's gonna be alright?

LOL...

…one thing did stick out to me.

Let’s just toss out ERA, a category in which Feldman ranked fifth of seven, as a concession that Rangers Ballpark absurdly inflates that.

Hasn’t RBiA been pretty neutral offensively for a few years?

It was just a couple weeks ago

…that someone posted a link where someone – maybe BP or something – found out that RBIA is run neutral for like the last 3 seasons. Yes, I am WAY too lazy to find the link.

by FuturePants on Sep 17, 2008 4:36 PM CDT up reply actions

It was me

I got tired of the reflexive “RBIA is a massive hitter’s park” type remarks. I sent an email to JMBarten at Beyond the Boxscore and he retracted his remark. RBIA has been fairly neutral the last 3 seasons. I’m not ready to proclaim it a neutral park, but I wish writers would stop automatically referring to it as a hitter’s haven.

Don't you know it's gonna be alright?

Any chance you could get Evan Grant...

…to acknowledge that. I know it’s his job to cover this team, and by extension their home field, so maybe he should know as much about the playing conditions as some internet spares like us.

Not just Evan

but Adam, MJH, and basically anyone else that talks about the Rangers. And, to be fair, I only checked ESPN and Baseball Reference. There are other sites that have park factors and they all calculate them in different ways apparently. There may be other sites that still show RBIA as a hitter’s park. If so, I’d love for someone to post those numbers.

My beef is that I really doubt anyone is looking at any site’s park factors. They’re just assuming nothing has changed.

Don't you know it's gonna be alright?

by t ball on Sep 17, 2008 11:25 PM CDT up reply actions

That would explain

the continuing surge of references to the RBIA as a hitter’s park.

Don't you know it's gonna be alright?

So what are the links?

What site did you extrapolate that data from? I’d like to have that handy because I’m tired of those comments as well.

Screw it

I’m making a fanpost, be up soon.

Funny that he didn't mention Hurley as a possible fourth or fifth starter.

I really feel he is getting overlooked because he is injured.

You know, I was thinking

if only we put this country’s fine financial institutions in charge of SS rather than the government. What could go wrong?

I now what went wrong

With the federal pension benefit guarantee program. A few friends retired from United are living on about a third of their planned retirement income, and further cuts are possible.

Kind of United's fault.

By the time it gets to the PBGC, its because the companies screwed the pooch on their pension. Normally in a good year, they converted “overfunded Pension Programs” to bonuses for the execs.
