OT: Generic 9/21 NFL thread
Wow, how bout those Dolphins, what a stunner. Not just to end the Patriots what, 20+ regular season streak, but 38-13?? Great to see for a die hard Pats hater like myself.
2: How bout those Texans!!!
You know, after catching wind the Texs hired the young Kyle Shanahan at OC, and I really thought their offense looked unstoppable in that Silver boot game, I was really afraid they were going to take off. It's early but, so far not very good. I guess all those great drafts really never helped and PS, I never did figure out why the hell Matt Schuab was ever considered some kind of young stud, considering as far as I could tell he never did jack to deserve that label (much like Jay Cutler prior to this season imo, really).
Looks like the Giants struggled today as well, good to see. Also looks like the Skins are coming on, we've got to keep an eye on that Zorn guy..

this thread should be enough for the cowboys too
anyway, thus far…
1) Bengals failed me. Eli made a bad pass and they had to punt in overtime, bengals could have won…. oh well
2) Brian Griese – 38 for 67. 400 yards 2 tds 3 ints. that must have been.. interesting.
3) They won today, but man the vikes should have had a better backup than gus frerotte. Plenty of backups would be legitimate improvements to their team.
4) Houston, heh.
5) Glad new englad lost. Didnt need to hear how good bellicheck is this week. Ronnie Browd 4 rushing tds and 1 passing.
Go Cowboys!

Looks like Ricky W actually had a better game
Both had a lot of yards and about 6 a carry, but Brown had a 72 yarder in there to skew his average while RW’s long was 28.

Out of the Cowboys tonight
Call me crazy but I’d like to see about a 31-10 win to show our progress. I dont wanna sweat this one.
Of course, not a team in the NFL could be expected to do that. Cowboys are best in NFL. We were the only favored road team this week.. against one of the best teams in the league.

Very interested in the Cowboys-Packers game tonight.
I’m one of the (I think) few that are still skeptical of Dallas as an elite team in the league this year. A sound win over (I think) a top-tier NFC team on the road would go a long way towards converting me into a believer.

Colts
Had Jags right where they wanted em. Manning trailing in obvious passing situations with 2 minutes left? Right where they wanted em.
The Colts huge new stadium, as pointed out by Bill Simmons, is so antiseptic and quiet though, removing a major homefield advantage compared to the Hoosier dome.. I hope the Cowboys new field doesnt turn out like that..

But he should not have been the pick there. It was clear at the time and it still is. I have pulled for him just b.c. he could help at LB, but that pick was not well spent. It was a Parcells nostalgia pick

This playcalling from Garrett is incredible.
He wont let you forget the run, and then you’re just absolutely dead when he’s switching between the two, considering our passing is nearly unstopabble anyway.

But I kinda just want to forget about the running game in huge games like this or when buried deep in your own territory. Garrett is just making them think about it. Then the passing opens up. And if you get a long run like Jones, thats just icing on the cake.

That’s my personal opinion. The squib still gets to the return man most of the time and lends itself to people overrunning the play. If you insist on not kicking it deep, then pooch the thing up into the air and let your team get on it in a hurry.

wild hog formation!
http://tidedruid.wordpress.com/2007/09/13/
In 2006, Arkansas’ coach Houston Nutt, implemented a wildcat offensive formation package to get these two playmakers the ball. The wildcat formation removes the quarterback (Casey Dick) and features a shotgun snap to McFadden who plays like an old single-wing tailback.
The formation was not a Nutt invention. The wildcat, a variation of a double wing offensive formation, has been around for many years. The wildcat (and its parent the double wing offense) generally features trap blocking, a crossing wingback who is in motion before the snap, and misdirection.
Arkansas is using the wildcat formation again in 2007, but Nutt renamed it the Wild Hog. McFadden, who sometimes played quarterback while in high school, is a moderate threat to pass from the Wild Hog. More likely than not, when you se

A nice test.
Finally a team that will push back (and yes, I include Cincy in that…they weren’t that great).

As a Mizzou fan...
…I’m scared that it’s not going to be a good game, that OU’s going to demolish TCU like they have everyone else.

Maclin originally commited to OU
Then something happened and he went to Mizzou.

TCU's defense should be able to slow OU down (comparatively speaking)
But TCU’s offense is still trying to break Aaron Brown back in and Dalton is just a sophomore who really isn’t a great passer just yet.
OU shouldn’t have any problem keeping TCU’s offense in check and eventually should put up plenty of points.

Still
I’m very disappointed that supposedly our fastest WR couldn’t outrun a safety…
maybe he’s still hurt?

Down 4
I’ve got Grant + Crosby right now, he’s got Romo, GB DEF, and Nick Barnett.

I was also one of the unlucky
that had to face Ronnie Brown today.
Every time I glanced away from StatTracker, Brown had another TD. It was maddening.

Im up by 18 right now
but I have Jennings tonight and Rivers tomorrow and the other guy has Folk and Grant tonight with LT tomorrow. I think I have it in the bag, because isn’t LT still questionable?
