OT: Generic 9/21 NFL thread

Wow, how bout those Dolphins, what a stunner. Not just to end the Patriots what, 20+ regular season streak, but 38-13?? Great to see for a die hard Pats hater like myself.

2: How bout those Texans!!!

You know, after catching wind the Texs hired the young Kyle Shanahan at OC, and I really thought their offense looked unstoppable in that Silver boot game, I was really afraid they were going to take off. It's early but, so far not very good. I guess all those great drafts really never helped and PS, I never did figure out why the hell Matt Schuab was ever considered some kind of young stud, considering as far as I could tell he never did jack to deserve that label (much like Jay Cutler prior to this season imo, really).

Looks like the Giants struggled today as well, good to see. Also looks like the Skins are coming on, we've got to keep an eye on that Zorn guy..

this thread should be enough for the cowboys too

anyway, thus far…

1) Bengals failed me. Eli made a bad pass and they had to punt in overtime, bengals could have won…. oh well
2) Brian Griese – 38 for 67. 400 yards 2 tds 3 ints. that must have been.. interesting.
3) They won today, but man the vikes should have had a better backup than gus frerotte. Plenty of backups would be legitimate improvements to their team.
4) Houston, heh.
5) Glad new englad lost. Didnt need to hear how good bellicheck is this week. Ronnie Browd 4 rushing tds and 1 passing.

Go Cowboys!

the preceding post was a great success.

Ronnie Brown

Faced him in fantasy this week. Dirty.

by SaltyGoesYard on Sep 21, 2008 4:21 PM CDT   0 recs

Looks like Ricky W actually had a better game

Both had a lot of yards and about 6 a carry, but Brown had a 72 yarder in there to skew his average while RW’s long was 28.

RW will fail a drug test soon

Not fun.

In our scoring, he had 35.5 points. The next closest point scorer was Baltimore’s D, 24 pts.

Out of the Cowboys tonight

Call me crazy but I’d like to see about a 31-10 win to show our progress. I dont wanna sweat this one.

Of course, not a team in the NFL could be expected to do that. Cowboys are best in NFL. We were the only favored road team this week.. against one of the best teams in the league.

by Sharky on Sep 21, 2008 4:55 PM CDT   0 recs

I thought you were against elitism

and the Cowboys are clearly becoming elite. I figure the mediocre Texans are more to you liking.

by SteveP on Sep 22, 2008 10:57 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Very interested in the Cowboys-Packers game tonight.

I’m one of the (I think) few that are still skeptical of Dallas as an elite team in the league this year. A sound win over (I think) a top-tier NFC team on the road would go a long way towards converting me into a believer.

Our defense

Still gives up huge chunks of yards at a time. But Roy Williams is out so we may be on the up and up as far as the secondary goes.

Is it your contention that Roy Williams is a servicable safety in coverage?

Because I would love to hear that argument.

yes

he’s a good strong safety…he’s played FS way too long since he was drafted…

So, and I am not jumping on you....

Who are the “elite” teams this year?

by SaltyDawg on Sep 21, 2008 7:22 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Right now...

…I really think that only Pittsburgh is “elite”. But I think you could make a strong case in saying that the winner of tonight’s game belongs in that category, too.

I’d say Philly is pretty damn good

I think Pittsburgh is the most complete team.

Their defense is elite...

But I don’t know about that O-Line

-Athos

by SaltyDawg on Sep 21, 2008 7:26 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, if there's a ?, it's at O-Line.

They’ll get tested, for sure. And Philly, of course, can make any offensive line look bad. See: last week.

by ghtd36 on Sep 21, 2008 7:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Dallas' O-Line looked far from bad

when comparing it to Pittsburgh’s today. Not even close really. Not to mention Dallas is better at WR, RB, and probably right about even at QB. I would love to have that defense though.

Colts

Had Jags right where they wanted em. Manning trailing in obvious passing situations with 2 minutes left? Right where they wanted em.

The Colts huge new stadium, as pointed out by Bill Simmons, is so antiseptic and quiet though, removing a major homefield advantage compared to the Hoosier dome.. I hope the Cowboys new field doesnt turn out like that..

Seems to be doing well in Seattle. Still glad he is gone though. I would rather take my chances with Barber and Felix.

Last year against the Bills

the Cowboys did it on the ball TO actually dropped on the last drive….but the refs wrongly went back after allowing the subsequent spike and reviewed the play.
