Thanks

I know there are still 3 games to go, but with the home part of the schedule completed yesterday, just wanted to drop you a note and thank all of you for your support of the Rangers this year.  If you watched us on TV, listened on the radio or came to some games at the ballpark, on behalf of everyone at the Rangers, thank you.

As I mentioned on The Ticket post game show this week and made mention on Jamey's site....for us to draw 38,000 last Saturday against the Angels and almost 200,000 fans for 6 games in September for a club that was well out of the race, it is a credit to all of the baseball fans in this area.

Again, thanks for your support this year.  One personal note, I really have enjoyed watching and reading the game threads this year, some really creative stuff shows up from time to time, I wish I could use some of it on the scoreboard...maybe I should buy a rally turtle this weekend?

As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, problems at the ballpark, please feel free to email me at cmorgan@texasrangers.com or call me at 817 273-5006.....I don't have all of the answers, but maybe I can get you to the right person.

Thanks

Chuck Morgan

I just have one request. Can we please get the outfield wall panels to be the same color? That drives me nuts and makes it look minor-league-ish

I'm undefeated in fights. Have I been in any? No. Thats because people know my f'ing status. Don't mess with the elite. - Miles

Dirk………wall panels will be the same color next year. That will be fixed

Rally Turtles

or the DoublePlay Dinosaur would be absolute greatness on the scoreboard! Just hire DShep to put together the player .gif’s whenever they do something good….or bad…

But thank you Chuck for doing what you do in the booth, coming onto the various fan forums to elicit suggestions, feedback and to share with us what the Marketing Dept at the Rangers F.O. does. You make it a very enjoyable experience at the park.

While such things would greatly amuse me, I think they’d be lost on about… 99.9% of attendees =p

Ahhh but

that .01% would be greatly entertained! Seriously, though, who wouldn’t get a kick out of a big ol’ Cruz Missile blasting across the scoreboard when he hits a bomb, or Gerry scooping his ice cream when he slides into 1st Base on a bunt??

What's the rumpus?

Well

I know board images arn’t just going to be thrown out there, but perhaps there could be a contest for some fan created videos or something that could get shown a time or two during the year? Surely someone could put something worthy together. Id give serious effort to such a thing.

the preceding post was a great success.

by DShep on Sep 25, 2008 10:38 AM CDT up reply actions

not a bad idea

kind of a “Rangers You Tube” on the video board…….we use your video, you get 4 tickets to the game that we play your video at, show you on the big board during the game….
not bad

That is a cool idea.

A la the videos created by CJ; fan created content about the team/players/etc. Maybe not out there like CJ’s (not really baseball related), but you get the idea. Homemade stuff shown on the boards.

Random question

Not clear if you are going to get the chance to reply in this thread so I sent an email, but other people here might have an opinion so I’ll throw it out.

The Cardinals and sveral other teams have begun to have their standard pitching camera be on a dead on an elevated and dead on angle to the plate, giving a much more accurate view of balls and strikes than the standard slightly angled shot.

As someone who watches almost every game, this is something I’d like to see the Rangers use. Anyone else agree?

the preceding post was a great success.

by DShep on Sep 25, 2008 10:18 AM CDT reply actions

ya,

the Cardinals’ view is sweet, I for one would like it.

by Kinslerhomer on Sep 25, 2008 10:35 AM CDT up reply actions

Sounds great

I also LOVE the view of balls in play used by the Nationals. They start with a wide shot of the area, then slowly close on where the ball ends up. Memorable.

Is the blackout rule definitely

going to be lifted? God knows it makes it almost impossible to follow the Rangers if you live close, but not close enough to get regularly televised games. I’d happily buy the Extra innings package if I wouldn’t get the games blacked out.

heck, i’d buy the mlb.tv package if i could actually watch ranger games on it without “breaking the terms of service”. Would be nice to be able to watch games on my laptop while away from a tv.

Dot Race

I realize there are potential liability/injury hazards, but what about selecting fans to put on the dot costumes for the races? Maybe it’s a contest that you do once or twice like a special game (Memorial Day, July 4?)

I would also be more than happy to accept a job as an attorney for the Rangers and write a release for such a contest. Or, just be an attorney for the Rangers. Either way.

I always enjoy it when I sit in the seats and hear your lineup call for OUR TEXAS RANGERS…what a great sound and reminder of where I am!

Two question:
I know we’ve heard in the past that the video board would be updated soon…I think I heard about it first a couple seasons ago. Is this in the plans for this off-season?

What other kind of upgrades in and around the stadium can we be hopeful for next year? (obviously mostly ranger related..but also in conjunction with the massive neighbors we have now).

Thanks so much!

Because

I live in Dallas. UT is everywhere, all the time. Mostly by people who didn’t even attend the school, so when I go to a Rangers themed webpage, I don’t want to hear about UT. Is that so wrong?

Thank you, sir.

It’s too bad I was only able to make it to one game this year. I used to live 10 minutes from the park but, It’s kind of hard getting to ballpark now that I moved back to San Antonio. I did make it the Boston game where we spanked them and almost gave it back. It sure was a good one. Thanks for doing a great job. See you next year at the ballpark.

Thanks for all you do

You are a huge part of the Ballpark experience for me, and I’ve had a blast every time I went (yesterday was pretty epic, though).

I love that you are so accessible to us (even if you don’t know the name of Frankie Frank’s annoying-as-heck entrance music – kidding!). I get a huge kick out of knowing that you read the gameday threads, too – when I come home from a game I read them too :)

I second the suggestion to use stuff like the DP dino and Walkoff Walrus, because I am tired of having to explain it :)

If the Rangers want to be more fan friendly they need to clean up the, buy tickets, on line site.

First of all, you cannot pick your seat.

Second of all, the time out, if you are not lightning fast, is particularly irritating.

This site is second maybe third class, makes no sense when someone is trying to buy a ticket.

heres a question i know that had been put out there a while back but wondering again…

what are the chances that any local merchants are allowed to serve food in the ballpark?

here in DC at the new nationals park they have multiple “local” places that serve food inside the park (maybe 5ish?)

i know there were people talking about serving local (well, shiner?) beer in the same thread around the park…

any chance at any of this happening?

On the website, I talk to our ticket people about the difficulty in buying a ticket on line….website is operated by MLB, we have some input, not much.

On the food in the ballpark, most of the time, clubs, ballparks expect for food operators to spend some money with the team to get their product in the ballpark.
Starbucks did that and had a stand on the main concourse.
I will bring it up in some meetings.

Last Year's Video

hurlerhurley,

I have produced videos, but the video that was done last year was not produced or edited by me….they had me come in and voice the video, but I was not responsible for the production, writing or editing of that video.
Once it was pointed out to me that Eric Hurley was not in the video, I went to the people that produced the video, had them edit him in.
Glad to help if somebody out there catches a mistake, but again, I wasn’t responsible for the production of that video.
Thanks
