one more comment on the image discussion that was going on

i wish sbnation would add a feature to turn on/off images in a users profile settings. i can certainly understand some people not wanting them in the threads, and a feature that doesnt seem that complex could take care of both sides.

the preceding post was a great success.

Trivia: No cheating, how old is Bobby Witt currently...

and what year did he retire?

Bonus question: How many strikeouts did he have in his career high year in 1990?

Witt

Retired in ’94?
Age 45?
Strikeouts… somewhere in the 80-90 range?

by oc on Sep 26, 2008 10:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well

He’s born in 1964, I believe, which would make him 43 or 44.

He retired in…2004.

And he had 251 Ks in his career high year.

by Adam J. Morris on Sep 26, 2008 11:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Age is correct at 44...

Retirement and K’s are off a decent bit.

ANSWERS:

Born: April 10, 1964 (Age 44)
Retired after 2001 season having played for Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, Florida Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Cleveland Indians, and finally the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Strikeouts: 221 Ks in his career season of 1990 where he had a 3.36 ERA and 17-10 record.

by rangers85 on Sep 26, 2008 11:05 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

By the way...

I was surprised that he was still only 44, figured he was late 40s. Also thought he’d retired late 90s, and had forgotten what a beast he was early in his career since I was 5-6 years old at the time he posted that 1990 season.
