John Danks and Friends vs Twins Open Thread

Not sure how many are gonna watch this...or be around LSB...or be doing both at the same time.  But I figured why not.

Former farmhand John Danks is going against Nick Blackburn in the Twins/White Sox 1-game playoff.  It's being broadcast on TBS and just started.

I, for one, am cheering for John and against Ozzie.  I am also cheering against Morneau getting any RBI, so Hammy can win that battle outright...it may not mean much, but it means something.

I'm rooting for the Twinkies

but for Morneau not getting any RBI either. The Ozzie rant after the CWS lose will be EPIC.

That's a good point

I’m moreso rooting for Danks…and against Ozzie

I too would like to see the Sox in October.

The more teams I hate that are in the Playoffs, the more I will watch.

I know this is beathing a dead horse on this site but...

I hope John Daniels is watching this tonight. I cant get over it still even today, it makes me sick to see John Sanks deal like he is, and McCarthy being a professional medical experiment.

So...why is John Hart still being paid?

by Texasportsfan on Sep 30, 2008 8:15 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

John Danks Trade

Adam and so many want to move on from this subject, but wow, we really got hosed on this deal. I can’t imagine McCarthy ever looking this good. I still like JD though.

Spin

If we don’t make the disastrous Danks trade we don’t get the cosmic certainty that rebuilding is necessary and thus are still stuck with a treading-water front office ideology that lacks sufficient commitment to improving the farm system. JD’s a genius. He knew Hicks needed just one more little nudge after the Chris Young trade to make him commit to a long-term successful plan to improve the franchise. So he traded Danks. JD is like Spock-smart. Yep.

by shroomer on Sep 30, 2008 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

spin

if so, then jd is way too smart for this organization and should be fired to liberate him from the morons that surround him. hicks would actually be doing jd a favor be firing him.

Exactly

It’s like how John F. Kennedy was able to sneak around the isolationists and get us into WW2 by allowing the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor. He knew they were coming in their sneaky little U-Boats, but he knew that unless a real disaster struck we as a country would never pull out of Vietnam and enter a war in Europe.

John Danks post season wins = 1

Rangers organization as a whole = 1

But shhhh, nobody complain about the golden child and his inability to identify big league pitching.

by clark on Sep 30, 2008 9:19 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

I apologize in advance for going Galloway on your asses

something about watching a Texas boy who was drafted by the Rangers and traded for a tampon dominate in the post season just gets me worked up.

let me rephrase then

John Danks wins after his team has played 162 games and in do or die situations = 1
Rangers org = 1

Happy?

that we will see a “fire JD” article by Galloway within the week

rightfully so...

grandpa urine is a d-bag, but i can make more cases for a jd-less rangers organization that i can make for keeping him

you can’t say that there aren’t enough reasons to fill a column. what do you need – three things and some filler?

by sam in so cal on Sep 30, 2008 9:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chris Young, John Danks, Edison Volquez, Armando Galarraga

I know EVERY club can look back and put together good teams, but can you imagine having this pitching rotation?

I hate being a Ranger fan. I wish I could stop, but I can’t

So...why is John Hart still being paid?

by Texasportsfan on Sep 30, 2008 9:51 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Danks is the only one that really hurts

Volquez was used for good, not evil, and I don’t buy into Galarraga’s success. Chris Young hurt because he was from Dallas, but it has become terribly obvious that JD abhors pitchers from Texas. Ironically, it will probably be a pitcher from TX (Ryan) that removes him from the org some day.

Life is funny like that.
