Will John Hart go to Seattle?

I'm just curious
Why would this get moved to the front page?

Because...
…I thought the post it links to was worthy of note.

I agree
It should be all politics all the time.
Seriously, you don’t think Hart expressing interest with the M’s is newsworthy for a Rangers blog?
Nothing pithy here. Please move long.

Barely
Hart expressing interest is one thing. That’s a perfect fanshot, imo.
Hart being hired by the M’s would make for a good diary, but still not at the expense of a more germane Ranger newsbite.
I don’t usually bother with the politics threads, actually. It’s the same blowhards inveighing against the rehashed issues of irrelevance. Yawn.

Hart
Phoned the M’s to express interest, yes. I’m not sure that will factor into an M’s overhaul, and maybe shouldn’t get legs. As badly as I think of Hart, there are some things he can do well (if he dives into the job and gets authority to do them). But I don’t think he’s a serious candidate for the M’s office, and would be surprised at anything more than a courtesy interview.

…Hart is the most experienced guy in building a franchise through player development out there.
That’s some pretty funny shit right there.
We need to hire Chuck Norris to kick the ass of any Ranger fan caught booing one of our young pitchers at the RBiA.

Well he did do it once
And he did it pretty well.

Hmmm...
I always thought he kind of Doug Melvined that shit. Basically meaning he came into a good situation with a lot of great long term pieces in place and basically signed a few complimentary pieces and rode that shit to a great reputation.
I think he made the Taubensee-Lofton, but if I’m not mistaken most of the other key guys were already there when EGS arrived. Carlos Bearga, Jim Thome, Charles Nagy, Sandy Alomar Jr., Albert Belle and Manny Ramirez were all already in the organization when Hart took over. Basically he took over an organization bursting at the seams with young talent almost ready to explode onto the scene. He made a few smart moves to surround those guys with some complimentary parts, but it’s not like he really “built” those teams. More like he didn’t screw up what had been given to him.

Yep
And then we had the luck of being the monster created in his first real chance to play Dr. Frankenstein.

Correct me if I'm Wrong
But I thought Hart served in the Indians organization before he was GM.
Anyway, the man is not totally without accomplishment. He was at the helm of a team making a dramatic turnaround for quite a while and I don’t think you can dismiss that. At the same time, one could certainly make the argument that he was totally without accomplishment for the Rangers and few people could come up with an argument against that.

Surely
At least Derek Z, and maybe Jeff S, know the meaning of “EGS” ?

Are you asking what that means? Or are you asking if someone specific knows what it means?

Wow
Talk about win-win for the Rangers!

Not the first time he floated his own name
seems like last time he did it, Hicks was stupid enough to give him a raise.
I’m not sure how much interest Seattle has tho.
