Minors: 9/4 Playoffs. Game 2 Thread

Well yesterday the Ranger's Farm teams event 1-2, with Frisco winning.

Clinton game has been postponed, so we'll have to wait to see Main.

OKC sends Lee because of Hunter's injury.

OKC Box Score

As for Frisco, Feliz goes. Man I can't wait till the end of next year, when we may have Feliz and Holland back to back in the rotation.

Frisco

Lastly, Spokane will send Boscan in their game, which according to Shroomer's site, is Game 1.

Hoopefully, this is 75 words long.

Feliz/Holland

If those two are in the rotation at the end of next year then it will be a disappointing year. Don’t get me wrong I can’t wait until they get here but the end of next year would mean we are out of contention. I think we have a legit shot at the playoffs next year.

More OT:

Roddick is so lucky that Tennis is for the most part overlooked nowadays in the US….. So much hype and potential and has produced absolutely nothing thus far. Looks he’ll put out the 3rd set and head to a fourth but he isn’t gonna pull this one out. This A-Rod is by far a bigger choker than the other.

I'm not sure what you're expecting here.

He’s playing Djokovich, who’s higher ranked and better. He’s supposed to lose this one.

by LiamP on Sep 4, 2008 9:07 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes he is supposed to lose

Because of his ranking I guess you could say that. But he was the #1 player in the world at one point and has only won one slam. I’m talking more about his career in general rather than this one match. I’d say it’s fair to call it a disappointment.

Ever heard of this guy named Federer?

There will be alot of really good players during this era who don’t win grand slams because of that guy. Just like there will be alot of really good golfers who don’t win majors because of Tiger.

Yeah theres probably been a little too much hype surrounding Roddick but thats what happens when you are a good player and have the celebrity status he has/had. He has good looks and plays good tennis. The hype is gonna be there.

by bigsteve on Sep 4, 2008 9:16 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd agree with that

And he has been to 3 or 4 finals only to lose to Federer… Guess it’s just sour grapes. That and I think it’ll be a long time before the US is gonna get back on top of the tennis world. Roddick is the closest thing we have and he is still not even close to any of the top 5 players in the world except maybe Nabaldian.

Feliz and Holland

Good to see these two guys step up big in the playoffs like they did. Anyone at the game tonight? Feliz seemed wild in the 1st inning watching the game day. Anyone have a report?

by groundingout on Sep 4, 2008 11:09 PM CDT   0 recs

Btw

Is it out of the question that Feliz is the #2 pitcher in the minors?

The candidates…
(just going off of reports that I’ve read)

Price-still #1
Cahill-Great sinker, good knuckle curve-very good numbers with very low hits
Bumgarner-Just turned 19, dominating numbers in Low-A, reportedly though getting by mostly on his fastball
Tillman-Pitching very well at AA especially considering he’s just 20, I forget what he throws but I believe he has 3 good offereings
Porcello-Got a bit of Beavitis in him in that he is throwing less hard than what he did in high school, only he went from high 90’s fastball to low 90’s sinker. K’s are down but pretty good patrol.

Where does Feliz fit in?

by groundingout on Sep 4, 2008 11:25 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Cahill

he’s a very divisive prospect. Not divisive in the “this guy sucks” kind of way, but in the “is this guy Brandon Webb or Derek Lowe” kind of way. Feliz’s edge in stuff, I think, puts him ahead of Cahill.

by FirebatM3 on Sep 5, 2008 12:03 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Man

I would kill for the floor of one of our prospects to be Derek Lowe.
