I thought my live baseball experiences from 2008 were over after my trip to KC a few weeks ago. Then I saw that the Redhawks were headed to Des Moines for games one and two of the division semi-finals. I quickly snatched up some pretty sweet seats and headed out on two chilly nights for some good baseball. Well, if you take out Wednesday's 6th inning, it was all good baseball. Either way, I'm just glad I got to see the boys one more time this season. I take a lot of ribbing there at Principal Park because I only show up to cheer against the Iowa Cubs. Several of the ushers take great delight in teasing me about that. Oh well.
I didn't get a lot of great shots from this series, and I'm pretty disappointed about that. But I thought I'd share my favorites anyway. You'll have to go over to my blog to read my commentary. Enjoy the photos!
Starting lineups on Wednesday.
Elizardo Ramirez on Wednesday
A few of Derek Lee from Thursday -- his delivery is interesting, it looks very effortless.
Ryan Roberts turns a double play.
Casey Benjamin earns the Pigpen Award for being the dirtiest player Thursday night. He also had a good sized hole in the back of his pants.
The view from behind home plate. You can see Elizardo Ramirez in the lower left-hand corner and the Iowa State Capitol Building in the distance.
