17th Best Ranger Ever Community Project
Congratulations to Kevin Brown on being named the 16th greatest Texas Rangers player ever. Brown won with 33% of the Lone Star Ball vote.
Our list so far:
- Ivan Rodriguez 1991-2002
- Juan Gonzalez 1989-99, 2002-03
- Nolan Ryan 1989-93
- Rafael Palmeiro 1989-93, 1999-03
- Alex Rodriguez 2001-03
- Rusty Greer 1994-2002
- Michael Young 2000-08
- Charlie Hough 1980-90
- Kenny Rogers 1989-95, 2000-02, 2004-05
- Jim Sundberg 1974-83, 1988-89
- Buddy Bell 1979-85, 1989
- Will Clark 1994-98
- Kevin Brown 1986-94
Now it's time to determine the 17th best Rangers player ever. I would suggest judge it the same way you would evaluate MLB players over a career, but consider their careers were only as long as the years and games they played with the Texas Rangers. Consider not just best seasons, but total contribution, and perhaps a bit of profile.
If there's anyone not on the ballot who you think should be considered as the 18th best Ranger, please let me know in the comments.
Write-In Votes
If there's someone not on the list who you want to vote for, please vote "OTHER," then write your vote down in a reply. If you label that reply as "Write In" it will be much easier for me to find. Thanks!

This is getting interesting
Some fandom is clearly more than just cheering for laundry. Personal favorites vary, that’s good. ARod and Teix are the most talented players, but not at the top of the ’Best" list. Nolan is way up there for impact. We are close enough to having a top 20 that these final selections are really interesting.

i would guess
that if we go to the top 25 the list would fill out with (in no order)
franco
witt
teixeira
oliver
obrien
burroughs
hargrove
wetteland
cordero
though i concede taht i’m probably valuing al oliver more than most would, especially since he was just 3 years. in place of him could be jeff russell

I'd supported Franco for the last few...
Then I throw my support to Witt, thinking he was closer, and it looks like Franco’s gonna win.
