i was just posting this
our so-called leader in the clubhouse wants to be traded. this doesn’t bode well for chemistry. good luck trading him
Young was “absolutely livid” that the Rangers would request such a move just months after he was awarded his first Gold Glove. The team was simply hoping to clear a spot for top prospect Elvis Andrus, but now they’ve got a real problem on thier hands.

Did Jon Daniels downsize your old position at Dunking Donuts?

so is there even a question now
that elvis andrus is a better defensive player than michael young?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

You beat me!
I just posted something lol. Yeah, this is interesting to me. I was wondering if this would make him angry, and I think rightfully so. I think what probably makes Michael the most angry is the fact that he did work really hard to improve his defense, and yet people are still saying he is lacking. I’m not going to say that Michael is a terrific defensive shortstop, but you have to admit he has seriously improved over the years. Hopefully he’ll retract his negative feelings.

I hope Kenny Williams is playing 'possum
I’ll take Josh Fields, and use some of the freed up money for Sheets.

yes most of us would dump him but...
I have to wonder if the Rangers will fell obligated to hold out for a bigtime prospect since he is the FOTF…..even though a slary dump could help us just as much.

Fields is no slouch...
1st round pick from ‘04 who put up an .894 OPS at AAA in 2006. If they’re taking the entire contract, that is about all I would expect.

I don't want fields
plus CWS are playing fields because they let crede go.
I’d rather sign Crede. Trade MY at the deadline if he still wants to be traded.

It’d be funny if Chicago trades for him and Ozzie Guillen makes him play 3B. Kinda like what happened with Alfonso Soriano sans the loaded contract

I like this
Scouts and statistical analysts are less enthusiastic about Young’s defense than the managers and coaches who awarded him the Gold Glove.
Is this an actual quote from Daniels or the “major league source” saying what DAmials said?
“The basic feeling was, let’s get all of our championship-caliber players on the field at the same time,” Daniels said. "We know Michael is one of them. We believe Elvis will be one of them. What is the best way?
I think this type of move definitely has the blessing of Nolan Ryan. You don’t break in rookies in 2010 if you expect to compete for the division in 2010. If they are going to push Andrus then I would also expect them to push Borbon, Holland and Feliz.

Never going to happen.....
That contract will limit the return and the return will need to be significant or the average fan and the media will practically lynch JD if it’s not considered a very good return.
The fact that this has hit the press with quotes from JD is odd to me. JD trying to get out in front of the storm? Wants to put pressure on MY to do “what’s best for the team”?

If people are right and most of his contract was an up-front bonus. . .
. . . would it really be that hard to move?
going forward, 6 million a year might be more than he’s worth, but not wholely unreasonable.
