As dumb as it may seem, this is the response of 95% of Rangers fans :/

Star-divide

I agree with Pat Reagan!!!! This is a bunch of crap!! Young made one move already to accomodate a selfish A-Wad!!! Now to move to third for a kid!!! Come on people, let the man play SS! He's the best SS out there, and one of the only reasons we drive over 3 hours for at lest 10-15 games a year despite gas prices!!! If the Rangers along with their putzie GM and manager decide to trade Young, they will lose my family and I as fans as well as our business!!!! We have been Rangers fans for a long time, and to watch the morons trade off all the tallent i.e. Tex, Mench, Laird, Soriano, etc. etc. al. And now Young???!!1 Its too much, Im done w/ these fools!!! Everyone of us , the fans, know we need pitching. We have needed pitching for a long time now!!! So why mess with the nucleus of the defense?? Just dont make no sense!!! Can someone please help me understand Daniels thinking? Never mind, I guess im going to just have to root for Boston!!!!! Hell, maybe even the evil empire!!!! God help us!!!!

I'm sick of Jon Daniels and surprised at Washington for wanting Young to switch! Daniels is an idiot and needs to be fired plain and simple! Find a decent third baseman DON'T get rid of your All-Star shortstop!!!!!

Why not trade Michael? You nuts have traded everyother good player we get. You let Tex. go and did not get anything for him.

these are the first 3 comments i see when i looked at the article about young wanting a trade on texasrangers.com

and folks i present to you your typical rangers fan.  next time you are at the ballpark (or not) remeber that you are surrounded by mostly idiots

this is going to end up as a horrible pr disaster on the rangers front and michael young is still going to be scene as one step below god by the general public

those quotes sicken me

now dont get me wrong i've been a huge young supporter and still think he has something to offer to most teams, but this a little ridiculous.  saying we got nothing in return for tex is one thing that EVERYONE here can agree is a dumb statement.

Two things here:
So why mess with the nucleus of the defense??

and…

and to watch the morons trade off all the tallent i.e. Tex, Mench, Laird, Soriano, etc.

It is not

so much spelling talent with 2 l’s it is including Laird and Mench contextually with Soriano and Tex ha. Yes at the time we traded them they were cornerstones of the franchise. Blah!!

I didn't even know there were comments on MLB.com

Weirdly, they don’t really show up on my work computer (just a few) but they were all there at home. I think my favorite was by the person that MY’s return should be, at least, two near ready starters and a couple positional players. The commenters look like 250 Josey Wales sock puppets.

Nothing pithy here. Please move long.

Now

I don’t think it’s fair to call them idiots, they obviously just don’t follow everything as close as we do. They have a right to be called idiots though since they posted a comment on a site everyone will see. But I mean I’m sure they are very smart and good at what they do, that first guy sounds like a wonderful burger flipper.

Extra cheese for me please.

To themselves, they are certainly learned baseball fans

otherwise they would not have opened their mouths in the first place.

Unfortunately, this type of reaction is quite expected. Most fans don’t follow sports team just so they can be completely rational and objective.

That's the thing about baseball though

There is more than just your MLB roster, you have to take into account you minor leaguers. In all the other sports, there really are no players of significance in a minor league system. They usually all come through a draft and play immediately or just ride the bench. The casual fans just watch what is on the pro field and make uneducated judgments regarding that performance.

The fact that most of these people think MY is the best SS in the league is ridiculous. And, I hate the argument about Andrus’ errors. The guy covers more ground than weeds in a trailer park.

This reminds me

of the old Emmitt vs. Hambrick arguments over who should be the starting RB.

Sorry, didn't mean to divert to football

Just pointing out that six years ago people based the argument that Emmitt should hold the title because of his championships/awards/stats, just like Young’s defenders are pointing to his recent gold glove.

These comments are great
If Mr. Daniels looses Young to a other team ,he should be fired. This is the stupidest move that this team could do. Michael Young is the Rangers, not just the leader and player that keeps this team going. He is the wright player in the wright place at the right time for this team. Mr. Daniels ,it is working don’t mess with it! If you have to do something , GET PITCHING!!!!!!

How can this person actually run a computer?

So the perennial losing Rangers antagonize their most popular player, asking a 5 time Gold Glove Shortstop to move for a ‘dime-a-dozen’, ’Can’t Miss’, Double A, ‘Never Was’, who had 32 errors in 118 games at shortstop last year.

Best one yet
Well JD you have done it this time. The old saying sure does fit now. THE BUCKET OF S—- DOESN;T SMELL TO BAD IF YOU DON’T STUR IT. But that is exactly what you and Wash have done this time. Nolan its about time you get in valved with this team a little more. I love the Rangers but this is bad timing.

these people are so ignorant

I doubt any of these people can even find their way to the ballpark.

Not exactly sure...

but Nolan is on board with this decision too which makes that comment even dumber.

We need to just come to terms with the fact

that the group sitting next to you and I at the ballpark is most likely 1 of 2 idiots:

1 – The Randy Galloway GET PITCHING fan, who will simply sit around and complain about JD the whole time.

2 – The fair weather fan who shows up only when given free tickets from work and couldn’t spell Kinsler.

Sometimes, the ignorance can be seen in a horrible combination of the two aforementioned examples.

Ryan

What if Ryan was the public face for the demand? It is easy to rip on Hicks, Washington, and Daniels, but what about Ryan? What if Ryan were to speak to a newspaper and say that players don’t dictate how and when they play ball, and that terms like “leader” and “team guy” are not earned for a one time position change a few years back?

This may not be the best thing for the Rangers to do from a p.r. perspective, but I have a hard time believing that a lot of name calling about Ryan would be met with general applause from the Ranger fan base.

by Excel Hearts Choi on Jan 12, 2009 7:09 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

That seems like a good point.

The “casual” likely respects Ryan’s opinion more than Daniels. Whether that should be the case or not isn’t the point.

Then I’ll get shit for pulling for a bad team with retarded fans.

people that know baseball

there just aren’t very many. more than likely anybody who takes the time to get a membership on a site like this is pretty big sports fan and pretty knowledgeable when it comes to them. when it comes to everyday life there are a decent amount of guys who know football, basketball not as many, but still they are out there. baseball? i maybe know 5 people i could have a good conversation with about it.
